Overview of Responsibilities: Leads and manages assigned branch for sales and operations to ensure the financial objectives, strategic goals and institutional growth are met in accordance with the Credit Union’s policies and state and federal government regulations, and in alignment with our desired member experience.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

  • As a leader in the branch, focuses on providing high quality service to all members through a consistent approach to delivering the member experience that includes sales, services, member satisfaction, operational and people management in order to build strong member (internal/external) relationships and deliver member-centric solutions. Demonstrates CML (Creating Member Loyalty)/SLS (Sales Leadership Strategies) skills and provides a positive role model for others including active listening to seek understanding of members’/team
  • As a leader in the branch, makes good and timely decisions using sound rationale, available data, and relevant or important factors to ensure the overall effectiveness of the branch and that are in alignment with the organization’s focus and direction.
  • Exhibits business insight by applying relevant knowledge and demonstrating ability to advance the organization’s goals, develops and manages to tactical plans (strategies, targets, goals, staffing, etc.) for the branch, and serves as subject matter expert for the branch with responsibility for ensuring the effectiveness of the branch’s day-to-day operations.
  • Participates in and supports Business Development efforts, activities and events, to maintain key member groups and develop new relationships.
  • Directs work for branch team by providing direction, ensuring work is aligned with organizational objectives and the desired member experience. Delegates and empowers team members to make decisions within their areas of responsibility and removes obstacles to get work done. Fosters and enhances understanding of strategic targets by aligning individual and corporate goals.
  • Ensures accountability by holding self and others accountable to meet commitments; monitoring the performance of the branch team, providing sales coaching and systematic follow-up to develop talent and achieve branch goals, and conducting accurate and straightforward performance appraisals, taking corrective action as necessary when departmental and/or Credit Union objectives are not being attained, exceeding member service expectations by providing superior quality service in a professional, efficient and courteous manner.
  • Develops and implements tactics for branch team to attain strategic targets through development of an annual branch sales plan; develops strategies to generate ideas and feedback from team members to increase sales effectiveness and enhance productivity.
  • Ensures the branch is adequately staffed and team is trained to successfully meet business objectives; schedules and directs team in order to maximize efficiency and utilization of Credit Union resources.
  • Individually demonstrates and ensures delivery by the branch team of a high level of excellence, professionalism, efficiency, accuracy and responsibility for outcomes. This includes performing all duties related to member service (accepting loan applications, opening new memberships, and all other member service duties) and assisting all branch team members as needed in their role.
  • Ensures and is responsible for overall efficiency and performance of branch office including; facilities management, budget, security, adherence to policies and procedures of the Credit Union, audit and other applicable areas.
  • Collaborates effectively with team members and other stakeholders across the organization to improve relationships, build trust, develop teamwork and deliver high quality member service. Builds partnerships and works collaboratively with others to meet shared objectives.
  • Develops talent by coaching others to build skills in order to meet both their career goals and the organization’s goals through mentoring, coaching, and relevant development opportunities.
  • Builds effective teams that apply their diverse skills and perspectives to achieve common goals, engages team in the sales process and effective activities to achieve team and corporate goals. Works effectively with the branch leadership team to assimilate new hires through training and mentoring. Encourages and develops cooperation among all levels of team members to ensure a team effort and prompt member service.
  • Communicates effectively by developing and delivering various forms of communication (written, verbal, presentation), that are in alignment with organizational vision, facilitating discussions and actively listening to convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences regarding expectations, procedure updates, new products and initiatives of the Credit Union.
  • Drives engagement by influencing others and by creating a healthy climate where team members are motivated to do their best to help the organization achieve its objectives.
  • Conducts regular sales meetings and observations, and utilizes the SLS (Sales Leadership Strategies) approach for daily coaching to ensure that sales team meets or exceeds established sales targets; instills these methods within branch leadership.
  • Manages conflict situations by effectively using Crucial Conversations skills, with a minimum of noise.
  • Instills trust by gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity and authenticity, models behaviors that align with organizational values; makes responsible choices and exemplifies courage by stepping up to address difficult issues and saying what needs to be said. Maintains a trusting relationship with direct team and peers.
  • Models self-development by actively seeking new ways to grow and be challenged, and exhibits self-awareness by soliciting feedback and through reflection gains productive insight into personal strengths and weaknesses. Applies feedback to personal development using both formal and informal development channels.
  • Demonstrates situational adaptability by adapting approach and demeanor in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations.
  • Joins area service clubs and organizations to promote goodwill, and represents the Credit Union at trade functions, professional organizations and community activities in order to raise consumer awareness and create MSGCU as top-of-mind.

Essential Preparation And Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance or related field or the equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience; and
  • Six years of progressively more responsible experience within a financial institution; and
  • Two years of supervisory experience.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Strong coaching, mentoring and overall leadership, management and development of team members using positive management techniques to ensure maximum effectiveness.
  • A thorough understanding of management procedures with the ability to plan department activities, set objectives, develop tactics, and budget. Possesses the skills necessary to direct team members towards the desired objectives, controlling the function by developing performance standards, measuring results, taking corrective action, and rewarding team members as appropriate.
  • Complete familiarity with the Credit Union's products, services, and programs as well as policies and guidelines to provide optimal services to members.
  • Thorough knowledge of the sales process, Sales Leadership Strategies, and ability to lead others in sales activities.
  • Above average interpersonal skills necessary to conduct business development efforts and lead a branch team.
  • Excellent organizational, time and resource management skills that enable and support collaboration with fellow managers.
  • Proficient with technology and software, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Must have above average writing skills.

Working Conditions

  • Office and branch location environment with little discomfort from noise, extreme temperature, dust, or other factors.
  • Required to travel throughout the MSGCU's service area in reviewing retail operations and representing the Credit Union.
  • Exposed to potentially hazardous conditions, such as robbery. Receives detailed instructions and security procedures on an annual basis to minimize risk.
  • This work involves sitting most of the time with brief periods of walking or standing and may occasionally require lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds.

Compensation And Benefits

  • Base salary begins at $69,000 / year
  • Team members in this role are eligible to earn incentives as part of our variable compensation plan

  • If you are at least 21 years old, you will receive a 3% contribution from MSGCU, and a 100% match for the next 7% you contribute to your 401(k)
