The Business Development Manager role is a field-based position responsible for the overall success of the iconPCR technology within academic, bio/pharma and government accounts. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical knowledge in NGS applications and sample prep, demonstrating technical credibility to effectively consult with customers and influence key decisions for adoption of the technology. A strong history of account relationships with key thought leaders in the Genomics space is essential. Additionally, the role requires strong business acumen to build successful account and territory plans, translating territory strategy into business results.


Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Meet and/or surpass sales targets for iconPCR instrument sales leads targets assigned by commercial leadership
  • Manage the customer sales process through phone, e-mail, web/remote conferencing, and limited on-site visits to promote and further develop n6's commercial goals
  • Work with other commercial teams to prospect and qualify sales leads from a wide variety of sources, to identify the owner of these qualified opportunities, and to route these in Salesforce to the appropriate sales lead
  • Achieve and/or exceed all sales and leads targets assigned by commercial leadership
  • Effectively manage all inbound/outbound communication with customers
  • Candidate must be comfortable with conducting presentations effectively and professionally to customers/peers/management

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required, in Biology/Molecular Biology/Genetics or a related field of study – Advanced Degrees are a plus
  • Life Sciences industry experience with 1-3 years of cold-calling experience, work in CRMs, or sequencing laboratory experience


As a rapidly growing startup, the ideal candidate will have expanded opportunities within the Commercial organization such as Marketing activities, review of R&D content for optimal sales tool generation and liasing with Product Management for feedback on existing platforms and future needs. These could include:

  • Support and drive engagement with commercial partners within the NGS instrumentation and reagent ecosystem
  • Strategic assistance on outbound activities, conferences and customer seminars


The role will report directly to the Head of Commercial.
