$77,000.00/yr - $90,000.00/yr
What We Need

A key stakeholder in setting our merchandising strategy and vision for the marketplace brands, and vision across the Home & Gear categories, and future and current segments (baby, toddler, kids, pre-teen, teen). The role requires both vision for the long term merchandising strategy/assortment as well as ability to execute and drive growth in the near term, and will help to drive topline company growth and margin in addition to other annual goals.


Responsibilities
  • Build strong relationships with the vendor community and curate product assortments from various vendors and boutiques to fill assortment voids, managing a broad vendor base of 125-150 brands
  • Prospect new vendors from multiple channels and negotiate profitable terms for Maisonette
  • Attend multiple trade shows per year if applicable
  • Keep abreast of current industry trends. Understand competitor’s strengths, weaknesses and strategy
  • Partner with vendors to secure exclusive and/or limited distribution product
  • Run weekly sales reports and analyze product performance highlighting key business opportunities and action on them
  • Build cross-functional team relationships (marketing, planning, creative, operations etc).
  • Propose & execute new category expansion opportunities
  • Manage direct report(s) and oversee their development and growth
  • Provide on-going analysis and interpretation of key business issues, with actionable insights
  • Proactively network with vendors regarding available merchandise. This includes frequent and effective communication, negotiations, and providing sales and inventory projections
  • Set the overall strategy and merchandise direction for the Home & Gear categories that ladder back to company OKRs
  • Develop seasonal vendor plans in conjunction with Planner and VP of Merchandising and Planning
  • Manage healthy stock levels and sell-through rates on all owned inventory
  • Ad-hoc projects and business analysis from VP of Merch
  • Support in new product uploads, maintaining current skus, integration issues, and customer service questions
  • Act as a cross functional leader between Merch and other teams on key initiatives


About You
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 7+ years of retail merchandising buying experience, ideally in a cross category e-commerce or retail organization, ideally with marketplace experience
  • Analytical thinker and strategic problem solver
  • Ability to partner with and influence vendors/cross-functional partners
  • Knowledge of retail landscape, trends and the digital marketplace, and dropship and marketplace business models
  • Natural merchant, with eye for Maisonette's uniquely curated assortment and an aesthetic point of view
  • Ability to understand analytics and data driven strategies
  • Clear, collaborative communicator; ability to streamline and synthesize copious information for various audiences
  • Entrepreneurial, intrinsically motivated, enthusiastic, and adaptable
  • Ability to effectively manage a direct report and support their growth
  • Ability to prioritize among myriad and shifting priorities
  • Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with day-to-day tactical execution
  • Personal passion for and perspective on consumer products within the children's space
  • Proficiency in Google Suite (Word, Slides, Excel, Looker)
