BUYER/PURCHASING AGENT

Full-Time | On-Site | Hourly

Job Summary

The Buyer/Purchasing Agent is responsible for day-to-day Supply Chain operations, including sourcing, procurement, order placement, inventory control, and negotiating costs for raw materials. They will purchase materials in line with inventory targets, manage the supply base to build strong relations, and seek out new sources of supply to minimize risk exposure. Effective communication with suppliers and different departments is crucial for success in this role.

Reports To

The Buyer/Purchasing Agent reports directly to the Director of Materials

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • None.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Purchase materials in line with inventory targets
  • Manage the supply base to build strong relations and seek out new sources of supply to minimize risk exposure
  • Timely and effective communication of forecasts and purchase orders to suppliers
  • Track the status of orders, communicating and expediting as needed
  • Maintain the accuracy of the master data related to their products
  • Maintain strong communication with suppliers; resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Assist in resolving issues regarding damaged/inferior products, returns, invoice discrepancies, etc.
  • Identify savings opportunities and secure the best pricing options
  • Proactively mitigate any potential problems in the supply of materials
  • Collaborate with different departments for internal communication
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Requirements

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP systems
  • At least 2 years' experience in purchasing/logistics in the aviation industry
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

Education And Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Familiarity with ERP, MRP systems
  • At least 2 years' experience in purchasing/logistics in the aviation industry
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office Word, Excel, and Outlook)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to stand, sit, and move around for extended periods
  • Must be able to lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Manual dexterity and physical strength necessary to operate office equipment
  • Must have visual acuity to read and analyze data on screens and documents
  • Must be able to hear and speak clearly to communicate with team members and suppliers
