Calibration Technician

Position Description

Position Title: Calibration Technician

Department: Engineering

Reports To: Head of Engineering

Work Location: Decatur, Illinois

Position Summary

The Calibration Technician is responsible for the maintenance, testing, and repair of various instrumentation and equipment. They ensure that instruments, gauges, and testing devices are accurately calibrated to provide precise readings and measurements.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Install, troubleshoot, and calibrate instruments and control systems in diverse environments.
  • Maintain calibration records and input calibration data using software like Calibration Manager.
  • Utilize MS Excel, Word, and other maintenance management software (e.g., AMMS) for purchasing and completing validation documentation.
  • Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and change controls as needed for new or existing equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment calibrations ensuring compliance with schedules.
  • Perform calibrations promptly and thoroughly following manufacturer's guidelines and company SOPs.
  • Order necessary materials and make adjustments or repairs to instruments and control systems to achieve compliance before preventive maintenance and validation deadlines.
  • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely information flow to prevent production delays.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work environment.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in mathematical abilities required for job tasks.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to critical facility issues including environmental monitoring, security, and fire alarm parameters.
  • Adhere to all OSHA and company safety requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Basic training in electrical and electronics from a trade school.
  • Alternatively, equivalent experience in working with instrumentation may be considered upon approval by Rising.

Job Prerequisites

  • Ability to maintain regular attendance and work a 40-hour week.
  • Willingness to work additional hours or overtime on short notice to meet deadlines.

  • Regularly involves sitting, standing, walking, talking, and hearing.
  • Requires use of hands for handling tools and equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities such as close vision for reading and computer use.
