Chemical Process Engineer - Cleveland, Ohio

The compensation range is $80K to $105K DOE


The Chemical Process Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing chemical processes to improve production efficiency, safety, and product quality.


This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams to ensure process reliability and compliance with industry standards and regulations.


The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage projects effectively.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Process Design and Optimization:

  • Develop and design chemical processes to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Conduct process simulations and modeling to evaluate process performance and make improvements.
  • Optimize existing processes to enhance yield, reduce costs, and increase safety.


2. Project Management:

  • Led and managed projects from conception through execution, ensuring timely and within-budget delivery.
  • Develop and manage project plans, including timelines, resources, and budgets.


3. Safety and Compliance:

  • Ensure all chemical processes comply with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement safety measures to minimize hazards.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.


4. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

  • Investigate and resolve process issues and inefficiencies.
  • Analyze data to identify root causes of problems and develop solutions.
  • Implement corrective actions and follow-up to ensure process stability.


5. Technical Documentation:

  • Prepare and maintain detailed process documentation, including flow diagrams, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical reports.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date documentation for process changes and improvements.


6. Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with production, quality assurance, and engineering teams to ensure smooth process operation.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders regarding process changes, improvements, and project status.
  • Provide technical support and training to plant personnel as needed.


7. Continuous Improvement:

  • Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement and cost reduction.
  • Stay current with industry trends and technological advancements to apply best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or a related engineering field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience in chemical process engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of successful process design and optimization.
  • Technical Skills: Strong understanding of chemical engineering principles, process design, and process control systems. Experience with simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) and statistical analysis tools is preferred – but not required.
  • Problem-Solving: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex process issues.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey technical information effectively.
  • Project Management: Experience managing projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in process documentation and analysis.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams and interact effectively with all levels of the organization.


Working Conditions:

  • Full-time position, typically Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime or weekend work as required by project deadlines or operational needs
  • Work may involve time in both office and plant environments, including exposure to industrial conditions.
