Position Overview

As a Director of Development, you will play a crucial role in leading fundraising initiatives to ensure the financial sustainability of our programs. This senior executive position requires strategic thinking, a vision for financial excellence, and the ability to drive positive change. Working closely with our CEO, Board of Directors, and leadership team, you will guide strategic initiatives and enhance organizational performance.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

• Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with the organization’s mission and vision.
• Provide strategic recommendations based on financial insights to senior leadership.
• Lead the strategic planning process to align with organizational goals.
• Conduct market analysis to inform strategic decisions and identify growth opportunities.
• Guide financial planning, including budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning.
• Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and accountability.
  
  

Financial Management

• Oversee all financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, and reporting.
• Ensure timely and accurate financial reporting to stakeholders.
• Manage cash flow, investments, and asset management for financial stability.
• Use data and feedback to drive decision-making and improve outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and funding requirements.
  
  

Compliance and Risk Management

• Ensure compliance with regulations and internal policies.
• Develop internal controls to mitigate financial risk.
• Oversee risk management practices and ensure adequate insurance coverage.
  
  

Fundraising and Development

• Collaborate with the development team to identify funding opportunities and diversify revenue streams.
• Provide financial insights for grant applications and donor relations.
• Support the team in meeting fundraising goals and policy compliance.
  
  

Team Leadership and Development

• Cultivate a collaborative work environment.
• Mentor and inspire the finance team for excellence and continuous improvement.
• Support professional development and capacity building within the team.
  
  

Thought Leadership

• Contribute to the organization’s strategic direction and effectiveness.
• Represent the organization at external events, advocating for financial health and community impact.
  
  

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field required; MBA and/or CPA preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years in financial management, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
• Skills: Strong knowledge of non-profit accounting standards, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities, exceptional communication skills.
• Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead high-performing teams.
