Otter Products is looking for its next Chief Financial Officer to join the Executive Leadership team in Fort Collins, CO.

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for Otter Products will be a proactive and valued business partner to the CEO, the Executive Leadership Team, and the Board of Directors. This individual will lead the accounting, finance and tax functions for the company, leveraging technology to create efficiencies in financial processes, procedures and reporting .

Reporting to the CEO, the CFO position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced financial professional with excellent leadership capabilities and strong accounting, financial management, tax, treasury, bank relations, reporting, and risk management experience to lead the financial function for our complex and sophisticated international company.

The CFO will be responsible for building and maintaining the infrastructure and operations of an international quality financial function in support of a highly successful consumer products business. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of either consumer durable or consumer electronics, peripherals, and accessories operations combined with strong leadership and relational management and advisory skills and will instill the confidence and credibility needed to become a trusted advisor to the CEO and Board of Directors.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the accounting, finance, tax, treasury, and operational finance functions for this complex and sophisticated consumer products enterprise: ensure excellence in service delivery to the CEO in a high quality and efficient manner. Service areas include: accounting, cash management, budgeting and other recordkeeping; financial planning and reporting; income tax planning, preparation and compliance; risk management; bank advisory services; and oversight of ad hoc projects, as needed or requested.
  • Lead the annual budgeting and rolling forecast processes, along with the long-term financial forecast for the company, ensuring the company is effectively managing resources in an effective and efficient manner that is in alignment with the strategic vision and objectives of the company, including achieving top-line revenue growth and profitability initiatives.
  • Enhance internal processes and procedures and controls to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the financial function; lead continuous improvement of processes and procedures, reporting and record keeping ensuring ongoing operational efficiencies; proactively provide input and leadership on issues and initiatives impacting office performance.
  • Ensure that best practices are in place for accounting and financial management, tax, cash management and payments and processing, compliance, and operations; provide financial analyses, modeling, projections and ad hoc reports for project or planning initiatives; review and assess current systems and recommend improvements to meet current and future company needs.
  • Responsible for oversight, design and operations of financial systems including, financial and accounting systems to track and provide reporting on all assets and entities; manage and oversee all financial systems and databases, ensuring accurate and high-quality data is being provided for reporting, planning, and forecasting.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of all foreign currency and transfer pricing matters.
  • Ensure the delivery of timely and accurate financial reporting to the CEO and banks including: customized monthly reports on all business segments; cash flow forecasts and projections; bank reconciliation reports; consolidated entity financial statements.
  • Determine future financial reporting needs of the CEO and Board of Directors; develop and implement business plan to establish a best practice financial and reporting platform to meet current and future needs.
  • Generate consolidated cash forecasts for all relevant entities to anticipate cash needs and ensure adequate funding.
  • Provide vision, direction and leadership to the financial staff; foster a high performance, collaborative and collegial culture in which quality goals are met; promote transparent communication, trust, cooperation and mutual respect with the Executive Leadership Team; lead by example as a “roll up your sleeves” team player. Successfully motivate and challenge a team of talented people at all levels of the organization.
  • Oversee financial risk management needs of the company including vendor risk, customer credit risk, bank concentration risk, interest rate risk, and foreign exchange exposure; recommend and implement appropriate plans.
  • Ensure the company remains in compliance with all financial covenants set forth in its credit agreement.
  • Provide oversight and recommendations on optimal capital structure of the company to meet existing and future capital needs.
  • Leverage technology to optimize the effectiveness and efficiency of the financial function.
  • Manage and oversee the preparation and filing of all tax returns and estimates on a timely and accurate basis; monitor financial and tax planning strategies for the company and owners; proactively anticipate and optimize tax options.
  • Serve as an advocate and liaison with advisors, vendors and partners (including accountants, attorneys, consultants, banks) and proactively coordinate with all to ensure that company needs and objectives are met; negotiate and monitor fees, commitments and agreements and develop metrics to measure performance of advisors and vendors.
  • Represent the company to all internal and external constituencies in a professional, confidential and ethical manner at all times.
  • Collaborate in the development and execution of the short- and long-term strategic direction from a business and financial perspective; Participate in communicating the key elements of the company’s plans and performance.
  • Provide the analytical support and metrics required to enhance an understanding of financial and operating results, the decision-making process, and the effective evaluation of progress in achieving tactical and strategic initiatives and refinement of those initiatives as needed.
  • Work with senior management to identify and consummate M&A, divestiture, and other corporate development opportunities.
  • Act as a fiduciary for the company on the 401K compensation and investment committees.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (or related) required. MBA, LLM, JD a plus but strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in the consumer durable or consumer electronics, peripherals, and accessories industry, including a foundation in public accounting; demonstrated skills and experience in providing quality financial management, accounting, tax and reporting for large international corporations; required.
  • Proven track record of success as a CFO and in delivering quality results; experience in all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial systems, budget planning, financial controls, tax planning, risk management, audit, financial and investment reporting; knowledgeable about financial management best practices with proven ability to build and manage an international quality financial function.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a senior management or executive leader role with a track record of success in attracting, motivating and retaining high performing staff with the ability to develop and effectively lead a culture of collaboration, quality and excellence required.
  • CPA license preferred. (or equivalent audit, accounting, and finance training).
