Our fifty-seven attorneys are committed to providing top-tier legal services to clients in the areas of commercial real estate, corporate, mergers and acquisitions, litigation, environmental and land use, employment, trusts and estates, elder law and tax. As our firm grows, we are seeking a dynamic individual as our first Chief Technology Officer (CTO).


Job Summary: The CTO at JAH will be responsible for driving the strategic vision and management of the firm's technology ecosystem. As a key member of the leadership team, the CTO will play a crucial role in enhancing the firm's operational efficiency, cybersecurity, client services, and overall competitive edge.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Technology Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive technology strategy aligned with the firm's business goals and objectives. Identify opportunities for technological advancements and innovation to enhance client services and streamline internal processes.
  • Infrastructure Management: Oversee the firm's IT infrastructure, ensuring it is secure, reliable, and scalable. This includes hardware, software, networking, and cloud-based systems.
  • Data Security and Compliance: Implement robust data security measures and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. Safeguard client data and maintain the highest standards of security.
  • Team Leadership: Retain and lead our high-performing technology team. Provide mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities to team members. Encourage a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with technology vendors, negotiate contracts, and evaluate new solutions that can enhance the firm's capabilities and efficiency.
  • Project Management: Oversee technology projects from initiation to completion, ensuring they are on time and within budget. Coordinate with legal professionals to understand their technology needs and priorities.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage the technology budget, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively and efficiently.
  • Emerging Technologies: Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies, assessing their potential impact on the firm and recommending adoption when appropriate.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate technology-related risks, ensuring business continuity and disaster recovery plans are in place.
  • Client-Facing Technology: Collaborate with legal teams to leverage technology for improving client experiences, including client portals, case management systems, and conference room A/V.
  • Documentation and Training: Maintain comprehensive documentation of technology systems and processes and provide training to staff as needed. Identify areas where written policies are needed and draft same, e.g., password changes, bring your own device, responsible use of AI, etc.


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (Master's preferred).
  • Proven experience as a CTO/CIO or in a senior technology leadership role in a law firm.
  • Strong knowledge of IT systems, cybersecurity, and best practices.
  • In-depth understanding of data privacy and compliance regulations in the legal industry.
  • Familiarity with legal technology and software.
  • Excellent project management skills and the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • A strong client service philosophy to provide technology and support services in a highly responsive environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with all levels of a professional services organization. Ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication abilities. Open-minded, team-oriented and strong interpersonal skills
  • Possess impeccable ethics and a familiarity dealing with highly sensitive data.


This is a full-time in-person position.
