Job Summary:

Under direction of the Program Director of Clinical Trials Operations, the Program Manager will be responsible for the planning, development, management, and implementation of the Clinical Research Recruitment Program in the Office of Clinical Research Operations and Services (CROS). This position will work with existing advisory committees and stakeholders on campus to support and develop an infrastructure and process to support human subject recruitment, retention, and engagement for all studies, with an emphasis on recruitment and retention for underrepresented groups.

Key Responsibilities:

Programmatic:

  • Develop and lead the process for program services including but not limited to recruitment consultations and social media campaigns.
  • Manage researcher requests to access CROS recruitment tools.
  • Create and improve resources to effectively engage recruitment of diverse research participants.
  • Identify actual and perceived gaps in resources needed on campus to support clinical trial recruitment by engaging with the CU Anschutz Research Community and the general public.
  • Identify clinical trial recruitment best practices; define and share effective strategies.
  • Develop and maintain an understanding of the clinical trial recruitment literature, best practice strategies, peer institution approaches, research sponsor expectations (e.g., federal, pharmaceutical and/or device industry) and rules governing human subject recruitment (e.g., OHRP, HIPAA).
  • Maintain the program’s Smartsheet sheets, forms, and dashboards. Develop creative solutions for tracking metrics for program services and initiatives.
  • Track and evaluate program effectiveness especially around key service areas.
  • Monitor expenditures and track budget to ensure fiscal responsibility.

Communications:

  • Create, in collaboration with Program Director and Research Communications Director, and manage a recruitment training communications program, which includes educating campus stakeholders on CU Anschutz Research Studies website, Study Spotlight Newsletter, ResearchMatch, and social media campaigns.
  • Develop culturally relevant, unique, and engaging content for clinical trial recruitment to place strategically in various communication channels.
  • Increase research awareness by improving the program's website and email newsletter, assist study teams with development of digital recruitment strategies and tools.
  • Create, schedule, and post social media content to the CU Anschutz Research Studies Facebook page, monitor and respond to social media commentary on behalf of the university.
  • Serve as a social media expert, have a thorough understanding of the ever-changing social media landscape and how to adapt tactics rapidly, social media analytics, customer service, storytelling and digital multimedia.
  • Manage social media intakes from research teams across campus and schedule intake meetings to strategize social media campaigns.
  • Maintain the social medial campaign calendar, gather feedback from research teams regarding our services and recruitment numbers from social media campaigns.

Partnership Building:

  • Partner and collaborate with research professionals within the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) and across campus.
  • Manage partnership relationships both in-person and zoom meetings.
  • Collaborate with research stakeholders (e.g., research teams, IRB, Regulatory Compliance, HIPAA Privacy Officers, UCHealth, CHCO, CU Medicine) to address regulatory, institutional policy, and/or workflow barriers that affect clinical trial recruitment and retention.
  • Expand our external partnerships and collaborations with community-based organizations through networking, attending health fairs and community events, and other forms of relationship building.
  • Identify public/community perception of research and areas for improvement. Strategize and implement community outreach activities to improve perception of research participation.
  • Work closely with the Offices of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Community Engagement and the Colorado Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute (CCTSI) to further the mission to increase representation of DEI groups in clinical research.
  • Work closely with the Office of Communication to ensure that our social media presence follows CU brand standards, and to develop solutions to expand social media expertise for clinical research recruitment.

Other:

  • Assist with other CROS/OVCR programs, as needed, that are related to recruitment and retention of clinical research participants including the Novel Clinical Trials Program, CReST, and Workforce Development Program.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of #1 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in marketing, journalism, public relations, communications, business administration, business, public health, public administration, communications, marketing, social/behavioral sciences, health or life sciences, healthcare or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • 3 years of experience in development of recruitment marketing communications and social media advertising
  • 2 years of project administration/management experience at academic medical center or equivalent.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, communications, marketing, or related field.
  • Experience with managing workload of a small team of professionals or having direct reports.
  • Experience with DEI outreach and community engagement
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as

$65,105 - $82,814.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
