We have an opening for a Commercial Lender at our corporate office in Arnold, MO.
The Commercial Lender is responsible for developing new commercial relationships with current and prospective borrowers, increasing the commercial loan portfolio and their financial relationship with the credit union.
The Commercial Lender facilitates the lending process by obtaining, reviewing, preparing, and following up on documentation and due diligence information to process new loans, renewals, and modifications, ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures and in accordance with established standards.
The ideal candidate will live in the St. Louis/Arnold area and commute to the corporate office.
What Will You Be Responsible For
Identify, prospect, and develop profitable commercial account relationships through inside and outside sales while managing a pipeline of new opportunities and existing relationships.
Maintain a sales and service presence in the community, establish and track engagement routines, and assist the Business Development Officer with developing opportunities for on-site visits.
Provide account services to commercial members in a courteous and professional manner by answering questions in person at the member’s place of business and by all other communication channels.
Work with branch operations and management to encourage referrals and prospecting of commercial opportunities and the tracking of these leads.
Meet with and interview potential borrowers to consider loan requests; discuss loan programs, alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, etc.
Take applications for commercial loan business and review members' financial condition to assess members' ability to repay the loan.
Monitor existing loan portfolios to maintain a high-quality asset base. Assist in maintaining up-to-date member files, including current balance sheets, profit and loss statements, cash flow projections, and other loan documentation.
Conduct periodic property inspections of loan portfolio properties.
Assist in collection, foreclosure, litigation activities, and repossessed property management and disposition.
Requirements
What skills does this position require?
Minimum of five years of related lending experience
Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field or equivalent experience
Underwriting knowledge and experience with the loan process from origination to loan closing preferred
Thorough understanding of income property and construction lending
Complete knowledge of business lending requirements and necessary loan documentation and closing process.
Understanding of Real Estate Appraisal techniques (commercial) and title issues.
Strong oral and written communication skills
Ability to think analytically and creatively with a credit quality focus
Ability to communicate effectively with others one-on-one and in small/large groups, fielding questions and responding to requests in a timely manner.
Ability to foster sound relationships and present a trustworthy and diplomatic image.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions while dealing with various abstract and concrete variables.
Able to utilize related computer applications – Microsoft Office 365
