We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating risks, analyzing data, and making informed decisions on new commercial property and liability business. You will also manage renewals and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service and coverage.

Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Underwriter to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating risks, analyzing data, and making informed decisions on new commercial property and liability business. You will also manage renewals and maintain strong relationships with brokers, ensuring that our clients receive the best possible service and coverage.
Key Responsibilities
- Risk Evaluation & Decision-Making: Assess and underwrite new submissions, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and making timely decisions.
- File Management: Keep accurate and organized electronic underwriting files according to company standards.
- Broker Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with assigned brokers, providing prompt responses to inquiries and clearly communicating underwriting decisions.
- Renewal Management: Thoroughly review and evaluate upcoming renewals, ensuring nonrenewal notices and renewal quotes are issued accurately and on time.
- Portfolio Management: Oversee the ongoing management of your portfolio, ensuring optimal performance and client satisfaction.
- Team Supervision: Provide effective supervision and guidance to Underwriting Assistants.
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor's degree preferred.
- Property & Casualty license preferred; required for residents of California.
- Minimum of five years of experience in commercial property/casualty insurance underwriting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and Adobe, with a strong understanding of database rating systems.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
- Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
- Ability to build and maintain strong business relationships.
- Strong negotiation and sales abilities.
