Compliance Attorney — Employment-Based Immigration Services
WeVisa is expanding its services to include employment-based immigration, focusing on high-profile clientele. We are currently seeking a Compliance Attorney who can work remotely to handle the preparation and filing of employment-based immigration cases.
Role Overview:
The ideal candidate shall serve in a fast-paced environment and must be comfortable handling various immigration concerns related to employment-based visa types. We are looking for team members who are passionate about their work and understand the positive impact they have on our clients' success.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Client Case Management: Develop an expert-level understanding of client cases, including preparing immigrant/non-immigrant petitions with in-depth knowledge of the application process and requirements, specifically in EB-1, EB-2 NIW, PERM, I-485, L-1, H-1B, O-1, and other non-immigrant visas.
- Project and Deadline Management: Manage various projects and deadlines, and prepare and revise documents.
- Client Communication: Explain legal terminology to clients succinctly and timely. Regularly communicate with clients and foreign nationals regarding procedural, case processing issues, and case strategy.
- Legal Research: Research unique legal issues by identifying applicable statutes and judicial decisions.
- Legislative Updates: Stay up-to-date on legislative changes that may affect immigration.
- Solution Development: Develop solutions to complex legal questions.
- Training and Collaboration: Provide training to client companies and individuals on substantive legal topics and updates about new immigration laws and regulations. Partner with colleagues to share information, resolve client issues, and support all client projects.
- Eligibility Assessment: Assess the eligibility of corporate foreign national employees for non-immigrant and immigrant visa status in the U.S.
- Petition Preparation: Work with esteemed global mobility personnel and the office of general counsel to prepare petitions and applications for submission to the Department of Labor (DOL) and the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
- Paralegal Supervision: Supervise the work of paralegal staff in record-keeping and document preparation to ensure no mistakes are made.
Compliance Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with the ethical and professional responsibilities of lawyers in the company providing legal services.
- Ensure compliance by the company's authorized persons.
- Ensure the company's authorized persons and others employed, associated with, or engaged by the ABS do not cause or substantially contribute to a breach of the regulatory requirements of this code or the ethical and professional obligations of lawyers.
- Ensure that a prompt report is made to the state bar of any facts or matters reasonably believed to be a substantial breach of the regulatory requirements of this code or the ethical and professional obligations of lawyers.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited U.S. law school, a strong academic background, and admission to the Arizona State Bar in good standing.
- At least 1 year of experience in immigration law.
- Member in Good Standing at the Arizona Bar (DC and New York Bar will be considered a plus).
- High-level organizational skills.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong time management and attention to detail, with the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
- Adaptability and willingness to learn across various practice areas.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and time management skills.
- Ability to work independently on daily tasks proactively and with minimal supervision.
