Construction Cost Accountant

MBA Energy & Industrial, LLC located in Magnolia, Texas is immediately hiring a motivated and experienced Cost Accountant to assist in job cost analysis and reporting of industrial and commercial building construction projects throughout the United States. This person is charged with conducting regular meetings with Project Managers to review work in progress and project profitability of each individual project to then analyze and present monthly to management team. The Cost Accountant directly executes Work In Progress Reports and reports directly to the Vice President of Finance and Administration.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Execute entry of new projects into accounting system to reflect project budget and other project specific details
• Provide operating project accounting support and analysis
• Provide financial management tracking, analysis and documentation of projects
• Assist Project Managers with all cost categories including budgets, forecasts, commitments and actuals
• Execute job cost and journal entries to allocate cost to appropriate cost codes
• Analyze and maintain the project budget and forecasts
• Provide the project team with accurate and timely cost information
• Perform earned value measurements for the project
• Determine state specific tax requirements of each project and file required forms accordingly
• Assume other accounting functions with the Accounting Department

Ideal Knowledge, Skills, Education, and Experience

• Bachelors Degree in Accounting
• Minimum 5 years working experience in accounting software and systems
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat
• Experience in Accounts Payable/ Accounts Receivable
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work with little direction
• Ability to communicate effectively and positively with internal team as well as clients, vendors and subcontractors
• Superior organizational and record keeping skills
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment and prioritize duties accordingly
