We’re currently seeking a highly motivated Construction Manager located in Denver, CO

Position Summary

The role of the Construction Manager within DEN’s Program Management Team (PMT) will assist with leading on-site team support efforts for DEN’s Great Hall Completion Program, and report to the DEN Special Projects Director of Construction. This position will help guide multiple phases simultaneously as part of a large multi-year construction upgrade program within an occupied international airport located in Denver, Colorado.

The Construction Manager will bring direction, facilitation, subject matter expertise, proficiency with issue resolution, and a relationship-oriented approach to aid in the success of this program. The Construction Manager will focus on construction surveillance and documentation, contractor performance measurement and reporting on the status of compliance in the areas of project cost, schedule, quality, and safety. The Construction Manager will participate in regular key meetings with DEN and contractors to ensure timely resolution of any items with significant impact to budget and schedule.

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Construction Management, or Engineering

Required Preferred Certifications/Licenses

  • OSHA 10
  • CPR First Aid

Required Qualifications

In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.

  • 10+ years of Project/Construction Management experience with a preference for experience working on large, occupied renovation projects.
  • Experience with CMGC project delivery.
  • Requires extensive knowledge of construction related processes, as well as a thorough knowledge of industry practices.
  • Ability to multitask or manage/support multiple projects simultaneously
  • Extensive written and verbal communication, organizational, and planning skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and industry project software packages
  • Experience with CPM Scheduling software (P6 or ASTA) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Daily and main point of contact for all on-site work
  • Monitor Contractor’s schedule performance; review progress against the approved baseline and assist in evaluation of Contractor’s monthly updates
  • Monitor compliance with contractual obligations such as Management Plan, QA Program, Contractor’s Safety Plan
  • Oversee the client Quality Program and work to resolve any QA or Special Inspection issues that may arise during construction.
  • Assist with daily coordination between Contractor and DEN Operations and Maintenance to ensure neither contractor’s work nor DEN operations are impacted.
  • Coordinate with contractors and City & County of Denver AHJ to ensure inspections and final acceptance testing dates support the overall Program schedule.
  • Review work-in-place to ensure compliance with technical requirements and operational and maintenance requirements.
  • Review, investigate, and verify percent complete on monthly contractor invoices and payment requests
  • Assist DEN with change order reviews for legitimacy and cost reasonableness
  • Manage issue tracking and follow up until resolution
  • Participate in constructability reviews and design coordination meetings as requested
  • Monitor commissioning process and coordinate with Commissioning Agent
  • Perform punchlist walks and assist Project Managers with Project Closeout
  • Attend all major Owner/Contractor meetings
  • Monitor contract document administration (contract changes, Bulletins, RFIs, etc.)
  • Adhere to client-specific electronic filing and filing for archives

Salary

  • Salary commensurate with candidate experience
