Our company is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Engineer specializing in commercial construction projects. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting project management teams, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. This role requires a deep understanding of commercial construction practices, exceptional technical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Coordination:

  • Project Support:
  • Assist the project manager in planning, coordinating, and executing commercial construction projects from inception to completion.
  • Prepare and maintain project schedules, ensuring alignment with project milestones and deadlines.
  • Documentation and Reporting:
  • Prepare and manage project documentation, including drawings, specifications, submittals, and RFI (Request for Information) logs.
  • Maintain accurate project records and generate regular progress reports for project managers and stakeholders.

Technical and Field Support:

  • Technical Assistance:
  • Provide technical support and guidance to the project team, subcontractors, and clients, ensuring all technical aspects of the project are addressed.
  • Review and interpret architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and contracts to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Field Coordination:
  • Conduct regular site visits to monitor construction progress, ensuring adherence to project plans, specifications, and safety regulations.
  • Identify and resolve on-site issues or discrepancies in collaboration with the project manager and site supervisors.

Cost Management and Budgeting:

  • Cost Control:
  • Assist in the development and management of project budgets, ensuring costs are tracked and controlled effectively.
  • Evaluate cost estimates and budget forecasts, identifying potential cost savings and efficiencies.
  • Procurement Support:
  • Coordinate with procurement teams to obtain necessary materials, equipment, and services for the project.
  • Review and approve purchase orders, ensuring compliance with project specifications and budget constraints.

Quality Assurance and Control:

  • Quality Standards:
  • Implement and enforce quality control measures to ensure all work meets or exceeds project specifications and industry standards.
  • Conduct inspections and quality checks on completed work, addressing any deficiencies or non-compliance issues promptly.
  • Submittal Review:
  • Review and approve submittals, shop drawings, and samples, ensuring they meet project specifications and requirements.

Safety and Compliance:

  • Safety Protocols:
  • Ensure adherence to safety regulations and protocols on the construction site, promoting a culture of safety among all project personnel.
  • Participate in safety meetings and conduct regular safety audits to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as industry standards and best practices.
  • Maintain necessary documentation and records for compliance with regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Communication:

  • Client Relations:
  • Serve as a liaison between the project team and clients, maintaining positive and effective communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Address client concerns and feedback, ensuring client satisfaction and fostering strong relationships.
  • Team Collaboration:
  • Collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Participate in project meetings, providing technical insights and updates on project progress.

Qualifications:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction, with a strong background in project engineering.
  • Proven track record of supporting successful commercial construction projects, including office buildings, retail spaces, hotels, and other commercial facilities.
  • Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered.
  • Skills:
  • Extensive knowledge of commercial construction practices, methods, and materials.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (e.g., Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Certifications:
  • Professional certifications such as EIT (Engineer in Training) or PMP (Project Management Professional) are preferred.
  • OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety certification is a plus.
