Shoreline Fruit is the largest tart cherry producer in North America operating over 6000 acres of cherry orchards in Michigan, growing and processing over 50 million pounds of cherries each year. We have an open position in our accounting department for a Controller - In conjunction with the CFO, manage and oversee accounting, tax, financial, budgeting and forecasting functions. Supervise accounting staff as assigned or needed.

Who You Are

This position will require that you are energetic and optimistically team and self-driven. You must be a collaborator and relationship builder good at analyzing numbers and putting together reports that keep our company compliant and informed. You must be a doer and a delegator as you will be interacting with almost all aspects of company operations at one time or another.

A Sample Of What You Will Be Doing

• Maintain accurate, organized, and timely tax and financial records for the company.
• Prepare financial reports required by various outside agencies, vendors, insurance companies, and other parties of interest.
• Oversee and coordinate production accounting entries, accounts payable, cash management, month end closing functions and reconciliations, and physical inventory counts.
• Work closely with the CFO in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
• Enhance accounting information systems and processes to provide for the efficient, timely, and transparent movement and presentation of information.
• Work with various managers to establish budgets, to review budget vs. actual results, to communicate expectations and to resolve variances.
• Ensure the maintenance of proper internal controls.
  
  

What You Will Bring With You

• BA in Accounting, Finance or related field.
• Minimum of 7 years accounting, finance, budgeting, and tax experience with minimum of 5 years of managerial experience.
• Accounting experience in a manufacturing company highly preferred.
• Competency using the Microsoft Office Suite. SAGE 100 accounting software a plus.
• Solid verbal and written skills.
