Job Summary The Controller/Vice President of Accounting is a key executive position responsible for overseeing the accounting operations and strategies of the organization. Working closely with the senior leadership team, this role involves ensuring the overall financial health of the company. The Controller/Vice President of Accounting plays a pivotal role in decision-making processes by providing strategic financial insights and recommendations to drive the company's growth and profitability.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor the accounting team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, for internal and external stakeholders.
- Oversee cash flow, optimize working capital, and manage liquidity to support day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
- Ensure the company complies with accounting standards, tax regulations, and legal requirements.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, oversee banking activities, and optimize capital structure.
- Continuously improve financial processes and systems for efficiency and accuracy.
- Oversee insurance management initiatives to maintain professional, management, general, and property liability coverages.
- Communicate financial performance and strategies effectively to internal stakeholders, investors, and board members.
- Develop and execute financial strategies aligned with the company's objectives, ensuring financial stability and sustainable growth.
- Identify financial risks, implement risk mitigation strategies, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.
- Ability and desire to work as part of a high-performing team in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional leadership and team management skills, with a demonstrated ability to lead and inspire cross-functional teams.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to translate financial data into actionable strategies that drive business growth.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey financial information clearly to diverse audiences.
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, accounting standards and tax laws.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- High ethical standards and integrity, ensuring financial practices align with legal and professional standards.
- Working knowledge of MS Office (especially Excel) and accounting software (preferably NetSuite); knowledge of data processing and business intelligence tools a plus.
- Well-organized with the ability to prioritize.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
- Strong critical thinking and analytical capability.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field.
- Valid CPA certification.
- Healthcare experience.
- Experience with PE backed companies preferred
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
