Overview:

This position is the key position in the accounting department that will oversee all accounting functions for Bragg Investment Companies and its subsidiaries (including Total Western and Coastline Equipment). The Corp. Controller has ownership of all sections within the accounting department including general accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, timekeeping, and payroll. The Corp. Controller will be reporting directly to the CFO, Bragg Investment Companies. This position also has responsibilities for process and procedures for the remote offices for the same sections.


Objectives:

  • a member of the Bragg leadership team, the Corp. Controller is responsible for timely, accurate and complete financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
  • successful candidate will collaborate with the leadership team to develop most efficient business processes as we advance technology of our systems, establish policies and procedures and controls where necessary, support corporate funding requirements, equipment management, and tax issues and to help the Company meet or exceed its corporate goals.
  • position will run the day-to-day operations of the accounting department including the monthly closing process and enforcing corporate accounting policies and procedures across the enterprise.
  • payroll efficiency through innovative process development in alignment with the advancement of our HRIS/payroll system implementations.

Responsibilities:

  • accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, timekeeping, and cash receipts functions.
  • for the preparation of statutory reporting requirements and the facilitation of all external audits (Financial, tax, statutory).
  • internal safeguards for revenue receipts, costs, and team and organizational budgets and actual expenditures.
  • (in coordination with CFO) financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring, and reporting standards on biweekly, monthly, and annual basis.
  • consistent accounting policies, practices, and procedures across all programs, adhering to national and local legal standards while remaining knowledgeable of proposed legislation.
  • and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets, policies, procedures, and workflows.
  • the accounting department and continue to streamline the procure- to-pay process in order to improve the financial health of the company.
  • simple, clear, and transparent reporting to the business operations team, using the company’s accounting and business intelligence systems.
  • with the external auditing services to ensure proper compliance with all regulations and GAAP.
  • cash flow by tracking transactions and regularly reviewing internal reporting.
  • and implement updates and improvements for accounting and payroll processes and procedures.
  • financial reports and data closely to support the business understanding and application of the financial data.
  • and oversee Trade Union monthly processes and procedures.
  • and support accounting team with dynamic leadership that creates an environment of trust and productivity.
  • comply with Corporate Drug and Alcohol Policy.

Required Skills & Knowledge:

  • to instill confidence in the business and give the business the transparency and tools to make good real time business decisions.

  • business acumen, including construction industry, POC, revenue recognition, understanding of Union labor and Work force management, domain-specific knowledge of the enterprise and its business units.

  • to drive organizational change and build capabilities that effectively balance the needs between continuously exploiting capabilities to optimize operational efficiency.
  • demonstrate high attention to detail and have excellent organizational skills.

Education and Experience:

  • or more years of experience in Accounting.
  • to seven years of leadership responsibilities.
  • with modern accounting software required.
  • and MSD365 working experience preferred.
  • excel and modeling skills with Power BI preferred.
  • or equipment industry experience required.
  • understanding of Project Accounting including Percentage of Completion revenue recognition
  • labor experience required.
  • Degree in Accounting required. (Master’s degree preferred)
  • with LEAN methodologies including continuous improvement initiatives a plus.
  • working with large family privately owned corporations a plus.
  • company experience working with Big4 accounting firms a plus.
  • CPA status.
