The Cybersecurity Engineer's primary purpose is to function as a trusted advisor to strategically improve Ascend clients' cybersecurity posture. The Cybersecurity Engineer will assist the VCISO team in delivering technical guidance and configuration support. Ascend offers comprehensive cybersecurity programs for mid-market clients based on established frameworks such as NIST CSF, CIS Controls, and HIPAA Omnibus.
A core function of this role centers around vulnerability management. Cybersecurity Engineers will conduct Weekly or monthly meetings to both understand and guide customers on how to increase their security posture through several different vulnerability management platforms. Additional work will be centered around Ascends cybersecurity services.
Responsibilities
- Support technical configuration management and deployment of Microsoft security products such as MDE, MDO, and Sentinel.
- Provision and configure vulnerability management platforms.
- Consult with customers and internal teams on vulnerability analysis, prioritization, and remediation strategies
- Develop new reports and customer dashboards as requested.
- Assist clients in processing inbound and outbound security questionnaires (vendor management).
- Collaborate with Ascend Cybersecurity Leadership to identify areas of improvement using Data Analytics to provide predictive and prescriptive advice to our internal and external customers.
- Facilitate change, knowledge, and team understanding of the client environment and need as priorities shift.
- Work effectively in a leveraged services operation (Cybersecurity).
- Create and maintain documentation on an ongoing basis as processes and technologies evolve
- Instill a security culture company-wide to foster security awareness and collaboration
- Apply knowledge of security principles and best practices to daily tasks
- Other responsibilities assigned by management
- Preferred Cybersecurity background of 1 year with both troubleshooting and configuration experience.
- Experience in Data Processing, Analysis, and Reporting.
- Preferred Cybersecurity Certifications include (SC200, AZ500, Security +) or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrable track record of accomplishment and success.

Physical Demands
Must be able to sit, stand, and bend for the duration of shift. The position is mainly sitting, with occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, such as laptop, server equipment, and, driving to the work site to meet with client(s).
