Data Technician I (Federal Programs)

TYPE: Classified STATUS: Non-Exempt SALARY: $16.24 per hour, 10-month position, Full Benefit Package) WORK CALENDAR: 223 Day, 8 hours per day START DATE: July 8, 2024

NOTE: This is a grant funded position.

REPORTS TO: Director of Federal Programs

DEFINITION: Under general supervision, provides assistance and support for the department and maintains related data for Somerton School District No. 11.

Essential Functions

Tasks

  • Generate District data from input to output. Develop and implement data input.
  • Design and implement data input and checking systems, working with data entry personnel to ensure valid and accurate data input.
  • Work with users of data to determine their needs and implement systems to deliver the information to them as needed.
  • Provide assistance and training to users of data. Export, import and process data as required on Mac/Apple programs.
  • Extract data from programs and create reports and files for reporting purposes for organizations such as Arizona Department of Education and federal programs.
  • Attend training classes as needed.
  • Organizes/runs parent meetings with each school secretary to review the district Integrated Action Plan
  • Manages the online annual required trainings (McKinney-Vento, etc.)
  • Determines student eligibility to receive additional funding by analyzing state assessment data (AZELLA, AzM2)
  • Maintains and supports with required documentation
  • Extract, maintain, and report existing data includes student data (demographics, assessments, attendance, grades, tests).
  • Manage existing programs include: AZMerit, PowerSchool, Galileo, Success Maker, AZELLA, Dynamic Curriculum Strategies, Imagine Learning, Waterford, National Geographic, DIBELS. Where applicable, manage Migrant Education Program student information systems such as MIS2000, MSIX, etc.
  • Where applicable, works with Migrant Education Program recruiters to review and approve the Certificate of Eligibility (COE) to ensure it is filled out properly and in a timely manner; and maintains records and transmits all pertinent information in the state COE database MIS2000.

Knowledge, Skills And Other Characteristics

  • Knowledge of Federal, state and local laws and regulations governing data requirements and information systems including Migrant Education Program eligibility criteria.
  • Knowledge of current information system trends and systems.
  • Knowledge of information system environments, methods and techniques.
  • Knowledge of PowerSchool
  • Skills in exporting, importing, and processing data from a variety of websites/software
  • Skills in navigating programs and databases for both input and output
  • Skills in using data to present information in the appropriate format including graphs, charts and rosters
  • Skills in using spreadsheets, databases, and word processors on Mac platform
  • Skill in working with data at a very detailed level to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Skill in analyzing highly technical information and translating it into easily understood communication
  • Skill in verbal and written communication.
  • Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an indoor environment. Work requires frequent standing, walking, and sitting. Some positions may require bending and lifting up to 40 pounds. May be exposed to dangerous machinery.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent, and five (5) years experience working with data in a K-12 institution (preferably in Arizona). Additional certifications may also be required as specified by the District. Applicants must be able to demonstrate fluency in both English and Spanish as a condition of employment. Fingerprint Clearance Card (IVP) required at the time of hiring.
