POSITION OVERVIEW
About The Position
The Dean of Students position under general supervision, directs, and oversees a wide variety of programs that serve a diverse student population, including student resources, discipline, advocacy, and campus safety programs. This position directs and coordinates student development and academic success efforts. In addition, collaborates with site principal, parents, school counselor, teachers, and staff to effectively communicate and promote student success.

Education
Work primarily occurs in an office setting. Consistent mental alertness; sitting or standing for extended periods of time; lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects up to 30 pounds, occasionally 30+ pounds; bending and twisting at the waist, reaching overhead, above the shoulders and horizontally; dexterity of both hands and fingers while performing duties; seeing to read, write and use the computer; hearing and speaking to exchange information, in person or on the telephone, and make presentations.

In addition, collaborates with site principal, parents, school counselor, teachers, and staff to effectively communicate and promote student success.
Position Qualifications
Education
- Bachelor's degree in education or related field
- Five years’ of leadership experience as a dean of students, overseeing student affairs, assistant principal, and/or classroom teaching.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid IVP fingerprint clearance card by the time of hire.
- Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona Drivers License by the time of hire.
- Valid State of Arizona Teaching Credential
- Master's degree in education or related field
- Annual revision of student handbook and enforcement of student code of conduct
- May be responsible for discipline and high level behavioral violations on campus
- May oversee activities on campus with special attention to clubs and activities
- Responsible for setting policies having to do with student organizations
- Maintain appropriate records and correspondence relating to the Dean’s office, which could include attendance, academic progress, duty schedule etc.
- May oversee facilities and maintenance of school campus
- Work closely with school counselor, teachers and administration
- Maintain working relationship with local authorities regarding off-campus student behavior
- May be involved in student emergency situations, including contacting parents
- May regularly attend activities or events on campus
- May schedule and coordinate fundraising events on campus
- May coordinate and track detentions
- Coordinates and track student academic intervention sessions
- Work with administration in creation of the schedule matrix
- Determine course offerings and sections
- Responsible for academic scheduling and student class assignments
- May provide academic coaching and counseling
- Work with administration to review data analysis
- Work with administration to provide supervision of instruction, classroom walk-throughs and evaluations
- Responsible for assessment scheduling and coordination
- Schedule meetings with parents regarding academics, post-secondary planning etc.
- May assist administration with recruiting and interviewing new staff
- Coordinate and assist in 504 meetings
- May assist administration in providing and scheduling professional development for school staff
- Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students and families from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds
- Conducts grade-book monitoring
- May be ELL Liaison
- Detail oriented; capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get task done
- Other duties as assigned by school principal
