Job Title: Mechanical Product Design Engineer
Location: Bloomfield, CT (On-Site)
Hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM
Duration: 3-month contract with potential for extension
Job Summary
This role is focused on applying engineering principles and design practices to develop optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications. The position involves collaboration across cross-functional teams to meet corporate and customer requirements, addressing product issues, and ensuring design concepts meet the necessary standards for application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability.

Job Summary
This role is focused on applying engineering principles and design practices to develop optimized design concepts and mechanical design specifications. The position involves collaboration across cross-functional teams to meet corporate and customer requirements, addressing product issues, and ensuring design concepts meet the necessary standards for application, cost, weight, performance, reliability, durability, manufacturing, assembly, and serviceability.
Key Responsibilities
- Test Fixture Design: Obtain design requirements and collaborate with cross-functional teams to design engine test frames, lab endurance test fixtures, and engine test head rigs. Complete BOM, assemblies, components CAD models, and 2D drawings.
- 2D Drawings for CAD Models: Complete product assemblies and components drawings using provided CAD models, adhering to best practices, design standards, and customer requirements. Set up proper datum systems and apply dimension tolerance, GD&T based on design standards and best practices.
- Product Design Changes: Work with cross-functional teams to gather product design change requirements and update CAD models and drawings accordingly.
- Tolerance Studies: Analyze components and assemblies' dimension tolerance and GD&T at nominal and worst-case conditions, ensuring global clearance and functionality. Conduct tolerance studies including linear stack-up and 2D dimension analysis.
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- Experience: 3 to 5 years of relevant experience (preferred).
- Skills:
- Proficient in CAD software, specifically Creo, and familiar with PDM systems like Windchill.
- Strong understanding of mechanical designs, including casting, sheet metal, machining processes, materials, and treatment.
- Experience with engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance stack-up.
- Ability to check and ensure design intent is well-defined in prints.
