Development Officer (Corporate Sponsorship)

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for a Development Officer (Corporate Sponsorship) in the Institutional Giving Department to solicit and steward major partnership gifts from high-level institutional donors for exhibitions, public programs, events and other special initiatives at The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1.

Responsibilities

  • In coordination with Director and Assistant Director of Institutional Giving, Global Sponsorships, solicits major partnership and sponsorship gifts from high-level institutional donors for exhibitions, public programs, events, and other special initiatives at The Museum of Modern Art and MoMA PS1.
  • Develops seasonal and annual strategy with Assistant Director of Institutional Giving, Global Sponsorships to meet and exceed fundraising goals for sponsorship.
  • Responsible for institutional donor acquisition and outreach, including prospect research, mailings, proposals, and budgets.
  • In collaboration with Assistant Director of Institutional Giving, Global Partnerships manages relationships with current sponsors and major partners, including tracking in donor databases, executing letters of agreement, benefits fulfillment, detailed regular and ad hoc reporting, and ongoing cultivation and engagement.
  • In collaboration with institutional donor contacts, develops and manages brand activations, including planning and execution of tours and events, development and sharing of social media and digital assets, and other activations as needed, to drive partnership value and ROI for institutional donors.
  • Liaises with curatorial teams, Marketing, Content Strategy, Retail, Special Events, and other departments to align proposals and partnership activations with upcoming program offerings.
  • Cultivates current sponsors and long-lead sponsorship prospects, including invitations to exhibition openings and events, Museum tours, and other ongoing engagement opportunities.
  • Attends sponsor events and other relevant Museum openings and events.
  • Coordinates in-kind sponsorship agreements related to Exhibitions, Marketing, Retail, Special Events, and other departments as needed.
  • Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and three to five years relevant donor or client-facing experience in a development or sales role.
  • Passion for modern and contemporary art.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Financial, budget, and database (preferably Salesforce) experience.
  • Proficiency with design software, including Adobe creative suite, a plus.
  • Knowledge and interest in business and marketing trends.
  • Must be available for some evening and weekend work.

Reports to: Assistant Director, Institutional Giving and Global Partnerships

Salary Range: Minimum of $72,000 to a maximum of $80,000 per annum
