Role Overview
The Digital Archivist will acquire, catalog, manage, and protect the organization's digital assets. This role will utilize and administer a Digital Asset Management (DAM) system to efficiently organize and access these assets, design organizational schemas, and set cross-departmental standards. This role collaborates with project stakeholders and teams to develop its digital asset management strategy and vision. The role also includes managing, implementing, and regularly improving the organization's digital asset management platform, Canto, as well as determining user best practices and communicating those across the organization.
With in-depth knowledge and understanding of the Canto platform, the Digital Archivist is responsible for leading the organization's development and management of assets within this system.
This role reports to the Content Production Manager within the Product Management team.

Responsibilities
- Lead the creation and evolution of digital asset management capabilities by developing the in-house roadmap focused on optimized user flows, permissions, and best practice asset management.
- Discover ways to enhance the automation of tagging and asset ingestion.
- Design and implement taxonomy and metadata management strategies.
- Perform ingesting, organizing, general asset maintenance, and management, as well as associated issue management and curating daily in the DAM system.
- Perform digital asset lifecycle maintenance activities, such as archiving and asset expiration.
- Develop training materials according to use cases for teams and the organization.
- Maintain and create various file types and versions, including hyperlinked, fillable-field, ebook (non-downloadable), watermarked, editable, or other versions of a single material.
- Make light edits/updates to files through InDesign and/or Adobe/Google/Office suites.
- Provide updated materials to the organization's print asset partner and proof assets ordered through inventory against the DAM system files; provide updated/correct assets as necessary.
- Maintain and contribute to standards and governance by keeping abreast of industry best practices.
- Develop more skills and expertise in digital asset curation and syndication by staying current with prevailing digital technologies and contributing to the evolution of new content formats.
- Serve as an expert on the Digital Asset Management system (DAM).
- At least 5 years of experience in managing digital assets.
- Expert level knowledge of Canto.
- Working knowledge of Adobe/Google suite.
- Some knowledge of/experience with InDesign.
