Building the world’s leading sound experience starts with the experience we provide for our people. That’s why we’ve been distributed from the start: between offices in Boston, Seattle & Santa Barbara. This role can be done remotely from home within the US.

The Director of Marketing for the Americas region will be responsible for leading all marketing efforts across the United States, Canada, and Latin America. This role requires a well-rounded 360 marketer with experience across e-commerce, paid media, PR, influencer marketing, CRM, and retail marketing, including visual merchandising. The ideal candidate will be strategic, resourceful, and nimble, with a proven ability to execute comprehensive marketing initiatives that align with our global brand vision while resonating with local markets.

This position will focus on accelerating DTC (Direct-to-Consumer) sales in markets where Sonos.com is present and partnering closely with the sales team and third-party retailers to create the best in-store and online experiences for consumers. The Director will be accountable for strengthening relationships with retailers, contributing to joint business plans, and developing and presenting new marketing initiatives, including new product pitches, trade marketing plans, and media plans. This role also requires close collaboration with the Global Marketing team, including the review and curation of local and regional briefs before submission.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning & Execution: Develop and implement a regional marketing strategy that supports Sonos’ global brand objectives while tailoring approaches to the unique needs of the Americas markets. This includes leveraging experience in e-commerce, paid media, PR, influencer marketing, CRM, and retail marketing, with a focus on visual merchandising.
  • Accelerating DTC Sales: Drive growth in DTC sales through strategic marketing initiatives, particularly in markets where Sonos.com is present. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize the online customer experience and maximize sales performance.
  • Retail Partnerships & Joint Business Plans: Partner with the sales team and third-party retailers to create the best in-store and online experiences for consumers. Strengthen relationships with retailers, contribute to joint business plans, and ensure alignment between marketing and sales strategies.
  • Marketing Initiatives for Retailers: Develop and present new marketing initiatives to retailers, including new product pitches, trade marketing plans, and media plans. Work collaboratively with retailers to ensure these initiatives support mutual growth objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing marketing team across the Americas. Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that encourages creativity, innovation, and agility, ensuring a 360-degree approach to all marketing activities.
  • Campaign Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and optimization of integrated marketing campaigns across all channels, including digital, social media, PR, CRM, and experiential marketing. Ensure consistent brand messaging and customer engagement while being adaptable to changing market conditions.
  • E-commerce & Paid Media: Drive growth through strategic e-commerce initiatives and effective paid media campaigns. Utilize data-driven insights to optimize online performance and ensure maximum ROI.
  • CRM & Customer Engagement: Develop and manage CRM strategies to enhance customer engagement, retention, and loyalty. Leverage CRM tools and data to deliver personalized and targeted marketing efforts across the customer journey.
  • PR & Influencer Marketing: Build and maintain strong relationships with the media and key influencers across the Americas. Develop and execute PR and influencer marketing strategies that elevate the Sonos brand and drive consumer engagement.
  • Retail Marketing & Visual Merchandising: Collaborate with retail partners to enhance brand presence in-store, ensuring impactful visual merchandising that aligns with Sonos’ brand identity. Develop retail marketing strategies that drive foot traffic and conversion.
  • Market Analysis & Insights: Leverage market research and data analytics to understand customer behavior, identify growth opportunities, and make data-driven decisions that drive regional performance. Employ resourcefulness in gathering insights from a variety of sources.
  • Brand Consistency & Equity: Ensure that all marketing initiatives maintain brand consistency and protect brand equity across all markets in the Americas. Uphold the integrity of Sonos’ global brand guidelines in all localized efforts.
  • Localized Marketing Plans: Develop and execute localized marketing plans that align with global brand guidelines, ensuring that regional nuances are effectively incorporated without compromising brand identity.
  • Collaboration with Sales: Work closely with the Regional Head of Sales to align marketing strategies with sales objectives, driving cohesive and effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Global Team Collaboration: Maintain close collaboration with the Global Marketing team to ensure alignment on brand strategy and execution. Review and curate local and regional marketing briefs before submission to the Global Marketing team, ensuring they meet global standards and brand guidelines.
  • Budget Management: Manage the regional marketing budget with a focus on maximizing ROI. This involves being resourceful in the allocation of funds and finding innovative ways to achieve goals with limited resources.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Global Marketing team, Product, Sales, and other cross-functional teams to ensure cohesive and integrated marketing efforts that align with overall business objectives. Adapt to shifting priorities and resources with a nimble approach.
  • Cultural Adaptation: Ensure that all marketing initiatives are culturally relevant and resonate with the diverse audiences across the Americas. Be resourceful in adapting global strategies to local markets.
  • Performance Tracking: Establish KPIs and regularly report on the effectiveness of marketing campaigns, adjusting strategies as needed to optimize results. Be nimble in responding to real-time data and insights.


Qualifications

What You’ll Need

  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of marketing experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role within the Americas region, preferably in the consumer electronics or technology industry. Must have extensive experience in e-commerce, paid media, PR, influencer marketing, CRM, and retail marketing, including visual merchandising.
  • Leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams across multiple countries, with a track record of building and scaling successful marketing teams. Resourcefulness in overcoming challenges and finding creative solutions is essential.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong strategic planning skills, with the ability to think both creatively and analytically to drive brand growth. A nimble approach to strategy that allows for quick pivots and adjustments is key.
  • 360 Marketing Expertise: Proven experience as a well-rounded marketer with a 360-degree view of the marketing ecosystem. Ability to seamlessly integrate various marketing channels to create cohesive and impactful campaigns.
  • CRM Proficiency: Deep understanding of CRM strategies and tools, with a proven track record of enhancing customer engagement and loyalty through targeted and personalized marketing efforts.
  • DTC Sales Focus: Experience in driving DTC sales, particularly in markets where Sonos.com is present. Strong understanding of e-commerce best practices and digital marketing strategies that accelerate online sales.
  • Retail Partnership Experience: Proven ability to partner effectively with sales teams and third-party retailers to create compelling in-store and online experiences. Experience in developing joint business plans and presenting new marketing initiatives to retailers.
  • Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Americas markets, with experience in navigating the complexities of different cultural, economic, and regulatory environments.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Digital Savvy: Expertise in digital marketing, including social media, e-commerce, CRM, and data analytics.
  • Brand Stewardship: Strong commitment to maintaining brand consistency and equity across all marketing activities. Experience in ensuring that localized marketing efforts align with global brand standards.
  • Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree is a plus.

At Sonos we consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, which may lead individual compensation to vary depending on job related qualifications, skills, and experience. All full time employees are eligible for merit increases, discretionary bonuses, and equity. Our job postings may span more than one career level and the base pay range may be modified in the future based on changing market conditions. The starting base pay for this role for all US candidates is between:

$183,000 and $203,300
