Job Description

This is a remote-based position, and the ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in expanding their client base by leveraging their API sales experience and technical expertise. The Director of Business Development will be responsible for identifying potential clients, cultivating relationships, and successfully closing new business while managing the entire sales life cycle.

  • Client Identification: Identify and target potential clients within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and life sciences sectors who could benefit from our API services, specifically with a focus on small molecules.
  • Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong, long-lasting client relationships, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and implement effective sales strategies and plans to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Technical Expertise: Leverage your technical background to effectively communicate our API manufacturing capabilities and understand client requirements.
  • Sales Life Cycle: Manage the entire sales life cycle, from lead generation to contract negotiation and closing, ensuring a smooth transition to project execution.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with our internal teams, including scientists and project managers, to ensure client expectations are met.

The Successful Applicant

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
  • Advanced degree (MSc or PhD) is nice to have, but not required.
  • Proven track record in API sales and business development.
  • Strong technical understanding of API services, CDMO/CRO, manufacturing, and related fields.
  • Experience in small molecule is preferred.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, prospect, and close new business opportunities.
  • Previous experience working as "lone wolf" and hunting for new clients in assigned territory.
  • Highly self-motivated, results-oriented, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
  • Willingness to travel (when required) to attend client meetings and industry events.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Previous leadership experience is great to have, this may be useful as the team continues to grow and new opportunities open up.
