The Director develops and leads a campus-wide vision for Community Engagement and Dialogue that creates safe, brave spaces where people from intersecting backgrounds can engage in productive and respectful discussions around difficult topics. They are considered a subject matter expert, work on complex issues of strategic engagements with great sociopolitical sensitivity, and implement dialogue, education, and training. The work is grounded in anti-racist principles and social justice, equity, and inclusion practices to equip and enable participants to navigate conflict and engage in difficult conversations within the academic community in constructive and community-building ways. This role reports to the Executive Director of Resource Centers for Climate and Belonging.

The ODO Assistant Vice Chancellor of Climate and Belonging oversight includes the CARE, Disability, LGBTQ, and Multicultural Resource Centers, Undocumented Student Support Services, and Community Engagement and Dialogue.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and minimum five years of experience or equivalent experience / training.
  • Expert knowledge and professional experience in intergroup dialogue and delivering equity and inclusion training and education.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and diplomacy skills, and advanced presentation skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced degree in social sciences (Education, Psychology, Sociology, Political Science).
  • Three years of professional intergroup dialogue and anti-racism education / training experience.
  • Ability to apply knowledge to achieve successful organizational outcomes.
  • Exhibited knowledge of training and development, performance and workplace learning.
  • Understanding of how intergroup dialogue impacts organizational climate and belonging.
  • Conduct analysis and develop recommendations, demonstrating problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Project and program management skills.
  • Marketing and social media experience.
  • MS Suite proficiency.
