Position Summary

Orlando Health is seeking an experience Director for Corporate Accounting who will be responsible for managing large functional team(s) in the creation, execution and refinement of financial analyses, business processes, accounting, reporting, and other accounting and finance related activities.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

  • Serves as a finance business partner to executive leadership on a regular basis.
  • Responsible for financial oversight of complex financial functions and processes including support to multiple business units.
  • Ensures team supports business planning processes, accounting related business processes, financial reporting, regulatory filings, and other similar finance and accounting related activities.
  • Ensures team provides internal and external customers with accurate and timely data to support strategic decision making and compliance.
  • Responsible for managing all team members in one or more functional areas.
  • Responsible for the achievement of team critical success factors, which include anticipating and meeting customer requirements, accuracy and high-quality work product, and achievement of cost-effective results.
  • Responsible for development of a highly effective and flexible team.
  • Responsible for continuously improving internal processes and seeking and implementing, with team members, innovative ways to improve quality and reduce cost.
  • Develops team members into highly effective and flexible team to meet customer needs with accuracy and a high-quality level of work product.
  • Provides accurate internal and external financial accounting and reporting.
  • Establishes policies and procedures, standards, and objectives in coordination with the vision and goals of Orlando Health.
  • Serves as the accounting liaison with Orlando Health leadership and CFOs in matters related to accounting and the general ledger.
  • Manages various human resource functions including hiring, work assignments, coaching plans, and performance counseling.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Specialization In Accounting

  • Develops accounting organizational strategies by contributing accounting and financial information, analysis, and recommendations for strategic thinking and direction, and establishing functional objectives in line with organizational goals.
  • Oversees identifying, developing, and maintaining accounting journal entries in the assigned areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining an understanding of current GAAP in the assigned areas.
  • Responsible for maintaining assigned accounting related systems such as general ledger, fixed assets, and other applications, and related upgrade implementation planning, testing, troubleshooting, and problem resolution.
  • Assures assigned staff develop and maintain relationships with internal and external individuals and firms that are the sources of necessary information used in preparation of accounting entries in the assigned areas.
  • Manages the work of assigned accounting and financial analyst staff to ensure accurate and timely accounting and reporting.
  • Ensures the development and maintenance of adequate internal controls over financial reporting and protection of assets in the assigned areas.
  • Monitors record retention for all departmental records, producing as needed for auditors.
  • Oversees the management of the external audit process, ensuring accurate and timely provision of requested items to the auditors.

  • Chairs or leads meetings.
  • Possesses effective communication and interpersonal skills. Required to effectively communicate complex financial and accounting models and statements to a wide variety of audiences through verbal and written communication.
  • Assumes the responsibility of professional development and continuing education.
  • Completes all mandatory education.
  • Ability to manage large projects and oversee leadership of cross-functional teams.

Qualifications

Education/Training

  • A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance or related field and five (5) years of direct work experience.

Licensure/Certification

  • CPA required.

Experience

  • Five (5) years of experience in accounting or finance management, public accounting management or consulting, to include at least five (5) years managing employees.
  • Computer experience required with an emphasis on accounting/finance related IT systems management (General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Fund Accounting, Budget, Purchasing card, Cost Accounting), spreadsheet and/or database programs.
