Job Summary: The Director (Design & Development) of the Project Management Office (PMO) reports to the VP of the PMO. The primary responsibility of this position is to manage and execute senior level project management services across all business functions supporting the Atlanta Hawks, State Farm Arena, College Park Skyhawks, and Hawks Talon Gaming Club, with particular focus on projects requiring the management of both the design and construction process. This is including, but not limited to projects for Finance, Global Partnerships, Operations, Strategic Initiatives, and Technology. This position works across a wide variety of functional areas and teams including departmental functional leads, consultants, vendors and other third parties to ensure successful tracking, reporting and execution of significant initiatives.

What you will do: (Responsibilities)

  • Project Management Office
    • Adhere to project framework and process as defined by the PMO
    • Assist in the ideation and evolution of the framework and process with PMO leadership
    • Lead several in-person and virtual meetings regarding portfolio of projects
    • Manage relationships with stakeholders and vendors to successfully execute a project, while also preparing relevant documentation (schedule, budget, return on investment, critical to return assessment, closeout reports, etc.).
    • Create presentation decks and supporting collateral for Atlanta Hawks & State Farm Arena executive leadership
    • Assist in the development and training of the PMO staff and seasonal trainees
  • Project Execution
    • Directly own 5-7 major projects annually from Strategy through Construction Closeout and Monitoring. Responsible for prioritizing, delegating and effectively communicating information throughout a project’s life cycle
    • Track and manage project scopes, budgets, pay applications, schedules, risks, and deliverables for a full project lifecycle
    • Provide on-site supervision and review as required by project needs and stakeholders
    • Facilitate the launch and management of special projects and programs that correlate to the organization’s core pillars
    • Prepare project documentation and tracking tools (schedule, budget sheets, reporting, etc.)
    • Work closely with stakeholders and vendors to complete a project’s scope
    • Process project invoices and work with Accounting on project financials
What we need from you: (Required Skills/Abilities)

  • Required:
    • Strong organizational skills, time management skills and attention to detail
    • Strong interpersonal communication skills with the ability to manage priorities
    • Ability to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate initiative
    • Strong analytical skills and highly organized professional
    • Ability to manage several medium to large scale projects simultaneously, including but not limited to construction projects, technology projects, arena buildouts and community developmental projects
    • Experience leading project meetings with several business stakeholders, contractors, client representatives, sponsors and team members
    • Ability to create and interpret project budgets, pay applications, schedules and plans
    • Ability to manage a project budget exceeding $1,000,000
    • Working knowledge of accounting and financial reporting, budgeting and invoice processing
    • Ability to manage PMO dashboard with a desire to uncover new efficiencies and automations where applicable experience managing and leading team members
  • Important:
    • Proficiency in Smartsheet
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Project/Powerpoint/Excel
  • Desirable, but not required:
    • Interest in unlocking new technologies and innovation to enhance current processes and operations
Education And Experience

  • Relevant Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts degree
  • 7-9 Years Experience in Project Management with specific knowledge of the Sports & Entertainment field and managing both design and construction efforts and/or fulfilling the role of an Owner’s Representative
  • At least 4-6 years within the architecture & construction industry
  • Google’s Project Management Certification (preferred but not required)
  • PMI Certification (preferred but not required)

  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
