Director, Digital Strategy

Position Overview

The Director, Digital Strategy is a new position at the National Park Foundation (NPF), added to oversee the content and channel strategies for our flagship website, social channels, and email marketing. This position joins a collaborative team and will be supporting other departmental and organizational initiatives as well.

Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing, overseeing the Content Team and overseeing two staff members, this is a full-time, permanent position based in NPF’s Washington, DC office and will require regular attendance of in-person partner, team, agency and organizational meetings, with some paid travel required. This position offers an exciting opportunity for the successful candidate to drive visibility, reach, and understanding on behalf of the National Park Foundation and make a significant impact on behalf of our national parks.

EssentialFunctions/Duties/Tasks

  • Define and lead the Digital Strategy for organic work on owned external channels, including flagship website, social media, and email.
  • Conduct a comprehensive analysis of current digital strategies across the National Park Foundation’s owned channels, and create a robust roadmap for portfolio in line with content strategy and departmental goals.
  • Shape our flagship website storytelling approach that guides the user journey as well as page-level narrative structure. This includes new projects, website optimization, page content and design.
  • Auditing the content ecosystem (website, video, webinars presentations, whiteboards, docs, websites etc.) in partnership with your Digital Marketing, Website Design and Brand Strategy peers to identify opportunities for impact and scalable consistency.
  • Help establish the measurement framework NPF will use to track performance including how our digital footprint is driving qualified leads to philanthropy.
  • Intentionally collaborate across the External Affairs department and full NPF organization to maximize owned digital properties.

MajorDutiesandResponsibilities

  • Oversee a team of digital channel-focused individuals within the larger Strategic Marketing team.
  • Supervise flagship website, auxiliary sites, and social media platforms for NPF.
  • Identify opportunities and strategies for corporate partner integration into NPF platforms, initiatives, and content campaigns.
  • Engage with and manage outside consultants and agencies.
  • Represent owned channel perspective in External Affairs planning meetings, including with NPS and/or agencies.
  • Maintain current knowledge on NPF, NPS and corporate partner goals and priorities and communicate to internal and external stakeholders as needed.
  • Manage a diverse set of internal partners and stakeholders, including marketing, philanthropy, communications, corporate, and more.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across our marketing, community, partner, and customer teams to develop a set of strategies that maximize our various sub-properties aligned to business priorities and investments.
  • Collaborate closely with philanthropy to create an omnichannel strategy to encourage community and conversion.

Requiredknowledge,skills,and Abilities

  • Familiarity with Craft CMS (or other CMS) is required.
  • Website management experience is required. Design/Build experience is a plus.
  • Demonstrated success managing complex digital projects involving cross-functional team coordination.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with proven skills to organize, prioritize, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Superlative diplomatic and communication skills, including an ability to work and communicate effectively with a broad spectrum of individuals (government agencies, corporate partners, NPF staff, nonprofit organizations, consultants, media, and more).
  • Proven ability to develop systems and/or processes to meet needs of fast-paced programs with multiple stakeholders.
  • A strong team player capable of integrating diverse activities within an evolving environment.
  • Understanding of content development process and creative approach to partnership integration.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence.
  • Strategic mindset and strong analytical skills.
  • Collaborative spirit with the ability to compromise to meet shared objectives.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and persuasively in writing, on the phone, and in person.
  • Affinity for national parks and public lands desired.

Preferrededucationandexperience

  • 7+ years of related/relevant experience in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience in people management, website management, social media management, email management, marketing, branding, partnership management, sponsorship, fundraising, or related field.
  • Agency or vendor management experience is a must.

Compensation And Benefits

The hiring salary range for this position is $120K-140K, commensurate with experience. The National Park Foundation (NPF) offers a competitive range with a robust benefits program. This position is on-site at NPF’s newly designed headquarters in Washington, DC, and will have access to an on-site fitness facility, an exciting downtown Washington, DC community, and a variety of metro stations.
