Job Description
The Director of Disability & Access Services assists the University community by providing guidance, empathy, excellence in service, while ensuring regulatory compliance for individuals requesting reasonably mandated accommodations. This individual provides for and sets the departmental tone/standards for ensuring outstanding, timely, caring, compliant service to students, and in certain circumstances for faculty, staff and guests. Accommodations can include but are not limited to, academics, facilities (classrooms, buildings, housing, etc.) student dormitory/residence and other potential barriers. Responsible for a full-time professional staff and student employee, ensuring mentoring, training, support and guidance, and employee development. Evaluates procedures, communications (web, email, written, etc.) with the goal of student assistance timely, helpful, and compliant. All done while setting a standard of excellence that can be easily reviewed, measured and improved where necessary.
This is individual needs to be current on improved service trends, best practices providing disability services in higher education setting, regulatory requirements, student needs and overall departmental service satisfaction while being knowledgeable, considerate of, and promoting disability justice and inclusion. The Director will provide consultation to University departments and advice on disability issues to ensure that policies/procedures are consistent, compliant and excellence in service while being knowledgeable, considerate of, and promoting disability justice and inclusion.
Required Skills
Master's Degree required with 8+ years direct experience with 5+ years of management experience. Doctorate degree preferred.
