Meet The Team

The  Director – Electrical Engineering  will be responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers in the design and development of Dexcom’s next generation of products. In this role, you will be accountable for driving the team and direct reports to deliver new designs and development supporting highly scalable, low cost , high reliability commercial products. Additionally, this role is responsible for design transfer to internal and external manufacturing sites . The position will spearhead product development with close collaboration with firmware, sensor/algorithm, and advance research teams for Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) and H ealth sensing wearable medical devices.  You will be responsible for driving innovation, establishing engineering goals and executing on those toward success. You will lead the design, implementation and testing of electronic systems for body-worn products.  You will hire, develop, and evaluate personnel to ensure the efficient operation of the function.  You will identify and resolve issues related to schedule conflicts, project scope, risk assessment and resource availability.

Where You Come In

  • You will d evelops strong relationships and program leadership with cross-functional team members to accomplish agreed up deliverables, timelines and methodology .  Uses facilitative leadership to solicit input from all cross functional members to arrive at the best decision to reach portfolio milestones.
  • You will implement the appropriate level of engineering process, rigor, and cross functional review within the development teams.
  • You will analyze data and proposed product specifications to determine feasibility of product proposals.
  • You will m aintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant engineering technology and standards.
  • You will contribute to design reviews and other key meetings to drive technical solutions for product improvement
  • You will ensure highest level of program velocity, highest level of product quality 
  • You will own the electrical engineering delivery commitments ensuring scope, cost, and timelines are met. 
  • You will provide functional expertise to assist team in making optimal technical and business decisions and recommendations 
  • You will lead functional reviews and contribution to the end-to-end development program through coordination of the extended team(s) 
  • You will be accountable for the functional deliverables; aligning with PM’s , and key stakeholders to deliver on R&D objectives 

What Makes You Successful

  • Having a proven track record in managing and executing the product development life cycle including design controls. Previous experience managing multi- billion dollar product portfolios. 
  • Extensive system integration experience, including successfully developing and launching complex products 
  • Strong cross-disciplinary technical background. Solid technical expertise for complex products (EE, FW, Algo, Mechanical, Packaging, Sensor technologies preferred).  
  • Ability to work in a deadline-driven and fast-paced environment including managing multiple projects 
  • Proven ability solving complex problems, with the ability to get to true problem that needs to be solved, foresee problems, and proactively mitigate before they happen 
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity – ready and able to effectively and efficiently change plans quickly to meet the changing needs of the business and projects  
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively collaborate, build relationships, and lead multi-disciplinary teams in a matrix environment. Ability to provide clear and concise solutions.  
  • Proven leadership ability to motivate, influence, and manage conflict within cross functional teams 
  • Ability to ruthlessly priorities own active and teams to ensure spending time on the critical few priorities that are most important to the organization 
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively in small and large settings and at all levels in the organization, including senior level management

Travel Required

  • 5-15%

Education And Experience

  • Typically requires a Bachelors degree with 15+ years of industry experience.
  • 9+ years of successful management experience in relevant industry.
