How You Will Contribute

As the Director of Enterprise Data & Analytics, you will report to the Head of Enterprise Data and Insights. Your primary responsibility will be to lead and drive the organization's analytics strategy and develop its capabilities for Ciena. You will collaborate closely with business units across all business functions globally, the data engineering team, business applications team and other platform owners. This role will play a vital role in converting data into valuable insights that inform business decisions, optimize operational efficiency, and elevate the customer experience. You would lead a high performing team primarily based in USA, Canada and India.

  • Partner with Business Teams: Engage in collaborative efforts with business stakeholders across all business functions globally to gain a deep understanding of their challenges, identify potential opportunities, and effectively translate business requirements into data-driven analytics solutions.
  • Analytics Strategy: Take ownership of developing and implementing a comprehensive enterprise analytics strategy that is closely aligned with the organization's overarching business objectives.
  • Team Leadership: Foster the growth and provide leadership to a high-performing team comprising of data analysts, architects, delivery managers, and visualization developers.
  • Data Visualization: Guide a team in the creation of impactful data visualizations and dashboards that effectively communicate findings, enabling the business to make informed and faster decisions.
  • Advanced Analytics: Facilitate the transition of the team from a Business Intelligence (BI) focus to an Advanced Analytics approach by fostering the growth of data science skills within the team.
  • Industry Best Practices: Keep abreast of the latest analytics trends, industry best practice, and methodologies.

The Must Haves

  • Education: Advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or a related field preferred.
  • Proven Experience: Minimum of 15 years of experience in leading global analytics team, with a demonstrated track record of successfully collaborating with business teams to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in programming languages (Python, SQL, or similar), statistical analysis, and data visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Power BI).
  • Business Acumen: Ability to understand business challenges, translate them into data-driven questions, and communicate findings in a clear and actionable manner.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaboration: Proven ability to build strong relationships and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach.

Others

  • Experience within Hi-Tech / Telecommunication specific industry/domain such as Supply Chain, Accounting, Sales etc.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Snowflake, AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Agile mindset and good understanding of MVP / iterative development is desired.

Compensation And Benefits

The annual pay range for this position in US is 157,300 - 251,300 USD

The annual pay range for this position in California is 190,000 - 303,400 USD

The annual pay range for this position in Canada is 138,600 - 221,400 CAD

Pay ranges at Ciena are designed to accommodate variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions, and locations, reflecting our diverse products, industries, and lines of business. Please note that the pay range information provided in this posting pertains specifically to the primary location, which is the top location listed in case multiple locations are available.

Non-Sales employees may be eligible for a discretionary incentive bonus, while Sales employees may be eligible for a sales commission.
