Director, Finance - Retail Operations

Verano is experiencing exponential growth, and we are looking to add to our Finance team. The Director, Finance—Retail Operations is responsible for overseeing accounting retail functions. The position will coordinate cross-functional business activities from the nationwide/corporate finance function.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Strong understanding of retail inventory with the ability to analyze the process from purchase to relief of finished goods
• Strong understanding of a cash business model
• Develop, implement, and maintain consistent accounting methods and procedures
• Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s objectives and growth plan
• Ability to work cross-functionally with marketing, procurement, and various departments to implement, track, and analyze new initiatives
• Build partnerships with key business partners to create transparency and drive operational excellence.
• Establishes business requirements for system implementations and or enhancements. Proactively engage with key stakeholders on system and procedure enhancements, ensuring overall communication across the business, focused specific meetings and written communications
• Develop processes to accurately track and account for centralized retail purchases
• Determines staffing needs based on short and long-term business goals. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team aligned with the business’ vision, values and priorities
• Train, coach and develop skills of direct reports
• Create, manage, monitor and deliver KPIs and recommendations nationwide.
• Track and analyze labor and headcount associated facilities
• Analyze and accurately account for shrinkage, returns, and defects
• Perform monthly analysis on retail aged, excess, and obsolescence inventory
• Drive adhesion to company policies and procedures in operations
• Deploy new processes and procedures to improve efficiencies across the organization
• Identify financial improvement opportunities and collaborate with operations on execution of opportunities
• Ensure financial control processes are implemented
• Assist in the assessment of systems requirements for SAP Sales and Distribution implementation
• Effectively optimize our process and move from an existing as-is manual process to a more streamlined systemic process leveraging SAP.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in accounting or finance required
• 6-8 years of related experience in financial operations required
• Management experience required
• Microsoft Office, specifically in Microsoft Word and Excel (advanced), experience required
• Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations required
• Strong ability to influence appropriate operational counterparts to timely closeout duties
• Must be authorized to work in the United States
• Must be 21 years of age or older
• Must be able to pass a state and federal criminal background check
• Ability to travel up to 10% to company locations

Preferred Qualifications:

• CPA designation is a plus
• Strong knowledge of retail financial management, including inventory control, margin analysis, and cost accounting. Direct experience in the retail industry is a plus
• SAP/SAP S/4 HANA Sales Distribution module experience is a plus
