The Opportunity

The Director for Internal Communications will support UCF's goal of becoming a best place to work by developing and executing an internal communications strategy that increases internal collaboration and story-telling while ensuring all faculty and staff are informed on UCF's strategic priorities and are empowered to support UCF's success. This position will work closely with university executives to ensure consistent content and communication, in support of UCF's strategic plan, that engages, informs, and enhances the overall faculty and employee experience.

Responsibilities

  • Develops content for, implements, and evaluates a comprehensive internal communications plan that applies the university's strategic plan and reaches faculty and employees using multiple channels.
  • Provides strategic guidance and communications support to university executives and senior academic and human resources leaders. This includes preparing background materials, written and digital content, and creative collateral for key internal stakeholders.
  • Works across the university, including with Communications & Marketing, to elevate stories of faculty excellence to internal and external audiences and to develop content specific to Academic Affairs and Faculty Excellence.
  • Assists with leading the Executive and Internal Communications staff, providing strategic support in delivering aligned results, enabling the team's success, and fostering a positive culture of collaboration.
  • Provides support on issues management related to institutional reputation, including serving as a secondary spokesperson for the university.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree and 9+ years of relevant experience, including 4+ years of leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Masters Degree
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to manage and mentor a team of communications professionals
  • Experience leading a strategic internal communications program
