Job Summary

The Director of Marketing and Business Development (MBD) leads the strategy and execution of the Protein and Eggs business within fresh foods Americas. This role will power the growth engine of FFS by translating insights into best-in-class material science-based solutions that shape the market and meet our customer needs. The Director of MBD will orient the Fresh Food Solutions organization to our strategic business growth objectives for Protein and Eggs through implementation across the Americas. This role will collaborate closely with the Regional Directors of FFS Americas, Segment Sales, Regional Sales and Product Development to drive market and customer understanding, build robust product road maps and pipelines, penetrate new and existing markets and customers, and establish defendable competitive advantage to share our markets for sustainable, profitable growth. The Director of Marketing and Business Development also serves as a visionary leader, guiding the team towards groundbreaking strategies and new product development that fuel growth and market leadership in the packaging sector.

Job Responsibilities

Note: Being Bilingual in Spanish & English is strongly preferred due to the intercompany processes with LATAM (mainly Mexico and Columbia) and accounting processes centralized in LATAM

  • Strategic Leadership in Protein and Eggs:
    • Lead the formulation and implementation of market facing strategies defining where FFS plays and how FFS succeeds in the market aligning the organization to these objectives and packaging market trends.
    • Responsible for establishing strategic market growth plans over the 5 year horizon
    • Identify and prioritize opportunities for market differentiation and competitive advantage through innovative packaging solutions.
  • Market Insights - Research and Analysis:
    • Build deep market and customer insights (global & regional) to understand market and customer needs
    • Conduct comprehensive market research and analyses to discern emerging packaging trends, regulatory situations, consumer behaviors, and competitive dynamics.
    • Utilize market insights and data to inform strategic decision-making, shaping our innovation roadmaps in packaging.
  • Brand Development and Positioning:
    • Drive strategies for brand positioning to differentiate the company's packaging solutions in the market.
    • Lead brand development endeavors crafting compelling narratives and value propositions tailoring Tekni-Plex business offerings to value creation for our customers and markets.
    • Strength value propositions for new product concepts through focus groups and consumer testing as well as in relation to understanding of the competitive landscape.
    • Build sustainability positioning into market positioning.
  • Product Portfolio & Innovation Management:
    • Build product road maps in collaboration with innovation team to address current and future market and customer needs.
    • Bring to life the necessary products and product lines to assure that our new product sales improve YOY inline with target (e.g. 15% to 20%) of our yearly revenues in FFS
    • Oversee concept to launch of innovative packaging products and services, ensuring alignment with our strategy, market needs and customer preferences, and strong value propositions.
    • Drive initiatives to product lifecycle management to optimize product value and market penetration in the packaging industry.
    • Provide guidance for market pricing and position for maximum profit potential.
  • New Business Development:
    • Deliver strategies and tactical plans to penetrate new customers and extend strategic relationships driving share of market and share of wallet growth.
    • Identify strategic target accounts and penetrate them successfully to drive our 6%-8% organic growth targets
    • Oversees market leaders and new business development sales in line with our market specific growth plans
    • Partner with sales to extend relationships with strategic customers building sticky, co-dependent relationships.
  • Strategic Partnership Development:
    • Cultivate strategic partnerships with external stakeholders, including suppliers, agencies, and industry peers, to drive collaborative innovation in FFS.
    • Foster mutually beneficial relationships to advance marketing innovation objectives in the packaging industry.
  • Marketing Communications:
    • Create innovative digital marketing communications, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and platforms to amplify brand visibility and engagement within the packaging sector.
    • Execute marketing campaigns to effectively reach target audiences and drive conversion to Tekni solutions.
    • Consolidate trade show participation.
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Develop and empower a high-performing marketing innovation team, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including Product Development, Sales, and Operations, to ensure alignment and integration of marketing innovation initiatives with overall business objectives for FFS.
  • Performance Measurement and Optimization:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of marketing and business development endeavors within the packaging industry including Share of Wallet, Share of Market, and Year over Year growth.
    • Continuously analyze pipeline performance data to identify optimization opportunities and drive innovation and improvement in packaging marketing strategies.
    • Establish key points to evaluate new product growth and new strategic accounts penetration.
This is remote role, but the ideal applicant will live in NY, GA, NC, or Indiana.

Experience

  • Minimum of 7+ years of experience in marketing, with at 3-5 years in a leadership role focused on marketing innovation, and business development within the packaging industry.
  • Proven track record of driving successful marketing innovation initiatives and achieving business results specific to the packaging sector.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies for packaging solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with a focus on fostering innovation and collaboration within the packaging industry.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence and inspire cross-functional teams in the packaging sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, or related field.

Salary of $145,000-$175,000 DOE
