This position reports to the Division CIO and Vice President, Innovation. 

 

Role Summary and Responsibilities: 

 

The Director of Application Services primary responsibility is to oversee all clinical and business applications and related activities. This individual’s principal goals are to develop and manage the application portfolio for the organization and to attain all IT service level agreements for the user community within the organization. This includes leading the direction for Clinical, Practice Management, ERP and other major business facing applications.  

 

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions: 

 

  • Ensure that applications meet business requirements and systems goals, fulfill end-user requirements, and identify and resolve systems issues.  
  • Review and analyze existing applications effectiveness and efficiency and develop strategies for improving or optimizing these systems.  
  • Cultivate and disseminate knowledge of application-usage best practices.  
  • Evaluate new applications, systems software, products, and/or enhancements to existing applications throughout the enterprise.  
  • Collaborate with the Director of Technology Services, the support team, super users, and system owners in the testing of new software programs and applications.  
  • Analyze documentation and technical specifications of any new application under deployment or consideration to determine its intended functionality.  
  • Ensure that any new software integration into company systems meets functional requirements, system compliance, and interface specifications.  
  • Liaise with company’s software vendors for prompt rectification of any problems or emergencies.  
  • Manage and provide direction for the application team in support of business operations.  
  • Compile and maintain inventory of company software and systems assets and their corresponding contracts/agreements.  
  • Develop and communicate training and documentation for end users, facilitate or conduct training as necessary, and other user-related activities.

Qualifications 

 

  • B.S. or B.A. degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Management, Project Management, Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent related experience.  
  • Working knowledge of EMR/EHR, Practice Management, and other various Clinical platforms.  
  • Working knowledge of Healthcare Revenue Cycle Management.  
  • Minimum of five years of Leadership experience in a Healthcare environment, including 2-3 years of practical professional experience in project management.  
  • Demonstrated experience in leading cross-functional teams.  
  • Ability to adjust and set priorities to meet deadlines.  
  • Ability to effectively manage staff. 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presentation skills.  
  • Strong persuasion and negotiation skills, including conflict resolution skills.  
  • Ability to work effectively in a professional manner with technology staff, business stakeholders, end users, management, and others outside the organization.  
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Self-motivated with ability to drive projects.  
  • Experience estimating project costs. 
  • Experience with managing large budgets. 

 

Physical Requirements 

 

  • Mainly sedentary. 
  • Sitting at the desk most of the day. 
  • Standing or walking less than two hours per day. 
  • Lifting no more than ten pounds on rare occasions. 
  • Must be able to work at a computer and answer phone calls on a regular basis. 

 

Compensation is based on the level and requirements of the role. 

 

Salary within our ranges may also be determined by your education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and location, as required by the role, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data.
