What You’ll Do

 

The Director of Brand Partnerships will lead the sales process to generate new business and streamline and organize daily workflows. 


You will play a leading role building key client relationships, thoughtfully developing and executing strategies for expanding Artestar’s base of licensing partnerships, and, ultimately, delivering on topline revenue targets for the organization. Responsibilities include strategic planning, sales prospecting, contract negotiations, and management, all while immersing yourself in the world of fine art and brand collaboration. You'll manage and help oversee pitching, selling, negotiating and driving new licensing deals to a close. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for sales, a keen eye for design and brands, and a knowledge of art and art history, looking to thrive in a startup-like environment in the heart of the Fine Art and fashion retail world.

 

What You’ll Be Working On


Generate Qualified Leads


  • Learn and understand Artestar’s brand strategies and planning process. 
  • Research the market and identify new best-in-class licensing partners that meets Artestar’s partner qualifications. 
  • Identify target contacts and key decision-makers inside target companies and establish contact via networking, cold calling, email outreach, and all other means, as necessary. 
  • Steward and preserve each artist’s unique legacy and critical reputation with the right on-brand partnerships.


Build and Manage Sales Pipeline


  • Continually oversee and drive prospects into leads through high-volume outbound sales activity.
  • Utilize detailed discovery to learn about the prospect’s interests and capabilities. 
  • Partner with leadership and marketing team to develop pitch decks that clearly align each artist’s DNA with the prospect’s interests and capabilities. 


Drive the Licensing Deal to Close


  • Work in partnership with brands and leadership team to develop and evaluate business plans, product strategies, and marketing strategies. 
  • Lead and manage efficient and productive negotiations of deal terms, taking full ownership of the deal process. 
  • Assemble detailed term sheets with concise business terms. Work closely with legal counsel to draft and finalize licensing agreements. 


Sales & Relationship Management


  • Maintain and nurture client and customer relationships.
  • Track sales activity in CRM consistently and accurately. 
  • Manage productive and goal-oriented deal processes. 
  • Prepare accurate sales forecasts per Artestar’s sales reporting process. 
  • Prepare reports and presentations of sales performance as needed. 
  • Responsible for company topline revenue goals.


Must Haves


  • 5-8+ years experience in new business development in licensing.
  • 3+ years experience in full-cycle sales from lead generation through closing the deal.
  • Interest in the Art, Licensing, Fashion, Beauty & Lifestyle sectors.
  • Strong analytical and research skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • A proactive, positive and energetic mindset.
  • Must have strong computer proficiency with strength in Google Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Docs, Sheets, Slides...) and MS Office.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of licensees, product categories, and international territories. 
  • Exceptional initiative and a self-starter.
  • Success at negotiating licensing contracts, creatively developing new business ideas.
  • Able to partner closely with licensees to understand their business needs and explore opportunities for growth.
  • Understand licensing sales successes and challenges, key retail accounts, development plans and strategy.
  • Understand best-practices for licensees.
  • Bachelor’s degree or greater.
  • Must be willing and able to travel occasionally as the role requires.  


Position is full time, including 4 days a week in NYC office.
