What You Will Do:

The Director, Mergers & Acquisitions ("Director") is responsible for sourcing and managing M&A transactions. The Director will build relationships with lower-middle-market business owners and help them prepare their business to be sold. Once the business is listed, the Director will work alongside Deal Origination personnel to present the opportunity to investors/acquirers, as well as support Align Deal Fulfillment personnel in the due diligence and closing processes.

This work draws upon an individual's capabilities in sales, marketing, business strategy, and negotiations. The position requires persistence, a highly organized approach, and a consistently positive attitude. You must have high ethical and professional standards, be a confident, creative problem-solver, a team player, and a real networker. The qualities of an effective salesperson are the most critical for success in this role. Individuals with well-established professional networks and have past B2B sales success are the most successful.

Requirements:

  • Sales & Business Development -- proven ability to prospect for, qualify, and close transactions. 10+ years of B2B sales experience required. Demonstrable sales success metrics and accolade required. Past participation in formalized sales training preferred.
  • Investment banking, B2B, corporate development, or business brokerage -- prior sellside investment banking/brokerage experience or corporate development experience preferred.
  • Exceptional initiative -- a well-organized, well-planned, self-starter
  • Creativity -- ability to innovate and develop solutions for complex business problems
  • Networking experience – proven ability to create relationships that generate sales opportunities
  • Background -- sales, strategic or financial consulting, or business management experience. Finance or investment banking a plus
  • Past business ownership -- a plus
  • Education -- college degree is required, masters degree preferred
  • Teamwork -- ability to work well with teammates to solve complex problems
  • Communication -- ability to communicate in a professional manner, both written and verbally
  • Ethics -- must be highly ethical and utilize sound judgement and character in all dealings
  • Confidentiality - Uphold a strict level of confidentiality.
  • Production - High producer that thrives executing against sales targets.


Qualifications:

  • New Business Development and Business Planning skills
  • Lead Generation and Contract Negotiation skills
  • Account Management skills
  • Proven 10+ year track record of success in sales/business development (financial services/investment banking industry a plus)
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with clients, partners, and internal teams
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in lower-middle-market businesses and in mergers and acquisitions is a plus
  • BA degree in Business, Marketing, or related fields is required. MSc degree is a plus.

This is a full-time, exempt position. Annual salary ranges from $60-90,000 based on experience, plus commission. Commission is not capped, so limitless potential income coincides with the effort put forth.
