As the Director of Construction based in Washington, DC, you will be instrumental in overseeing and managing the construction process for our projects. This role demands a strong leader with extensive experience in luxury residential construction, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to uphold our commitment to excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Execution:
    • Lead the planning and execution of multiple high-end residential construction projects simultaneously, ensuring alignment with project goals, timelines, and budget constraints
    • Develop detailed project plans, including scope, objectives, timelines, and resource requirements, and oversee their implementation
  • Financial Management:
    • Create and manage project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring adherence to financial goals and profitability targets
    • Implement cost-saving measures and negotiate contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors to optimize project costs without compromising quality
  • Schedule and Resource Management:
    • Establish and maintain construction schedules, coordinating activities across all phases of the project to meet deadlines and mitigate delays
    • Allocate and manage resources effectively, including labor, materials, and equipment, to maximize productivity and efficiency
  • Quality Assurance and Compliance:
    • Implement rigorous quality control measures to maintain the highest standards of craftsmanship and luxury throughout all stages of construction
    • Ensure compliance with local building codes, zoning regulations, safety standards, and environmental requirements, prioritizing a safe and sustainable work environment
  • Stakeholder Communication:
    • Serve as a primary point of contact for architects, engineers, and subcontractors, fostering positive relationships and facilitating clear and timely communication
    • Provide regular project updates, address owner inquiries and concerns promptly, and manage expectations to ensure owner satisfaction
  • Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead, mentor, and motivate a diverse team of construction professionals, including project managers, site supervisors, and support staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment
    • Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and provide opportunities for professional development to enhance team capabilities and expertise
Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in luxury residential construction management, demonstrating a successful track record of overseeing complex projects from inception to completion
  • Strong understanding of construction practices, methodologies, and industry standards, with a focus on luxury residential development
  • Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and influence teams and stakeholders at all levels
  • Proficiency in construction management software and tools, including scheduling, budgeting, and project management systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to delivering superior results
