Job Description:

MoCaFi is looking for an experienced Director of Data Analytics who will oversee the organization's data analytics function. The individual will define and design business intelligence solutions to optimize the use of data within our products. In this role, the individual will lead the development and maintenance of the data warehouse, ensuring data integrity and leveraging data insights to support strategic decision-making. This role will be accountable for leading, contributing, and implementing data & analytics to deliver both near-term and long-term market growth strategies. Working alongside senior leaders, they will deliver insights and analyses that shape business priorities. This role reports to the Head of Product and has a BI Analyst as a direct report. The salary range is $130-160k.

Primary Responsibilities

Data Strategy:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Lead and mentor a team of data analysts, data scientists, and BI specialists.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Define ways to measure the company's impact on government clients, cardholders, and the communities we operate and embed them in the company's offering and process.
  • Define data ownership, access controls, and usage guidelines.
  • Champion a data-driven culture across the organization.

Data Warehouse Development:

  • Lead the development and ongoing maintenance of our data warehouse, including integrating internal and external data sources.
  • Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of the company's data warehouse.
  • Ensure data warehousing best practices are followed, including data modeling, ETL processes, and performance optimization.
  • Implement robust data governance and data quality frameworks.

Data Analytics:

  • Develop and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) and dashboards to monitor business performance.
  • Drive the development and implementation of advanced analytics solutions to support business needs for internal and external users.
  • Utilize data analytics to provide actionable insights, identify trends, and drive business growth.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports in Tableau for real-time business intelligence.
  • Communicate complex data concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Critical Skills:

  • Strong experience in building and managing data warehouses in a financial services context.
  • Proficiency in data analytics tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, R, Tableau).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Proven experience defining and implementing data governance frameworks.
  • Extensive experience building and maintaining data warehouses, preferably in AWS cloud environments.
  • Strong understanding of data modeling, data visualization, and SQL.
  • Experience working in the payments industry with a demonstrated understanding of relevant data.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • A passion for data-driven decision-making and a desire to make a significant impact at a fast-paced startup.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in the payments industry and consumer banking (e.g., payment processing, acquiring, issuing, payment technology provider, etc.)
  • Advanced degree or equivalent experience in Business, Strategy, or Analytics preferred but not required.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and a permanent resident of the United States
