The Director of Development is an experienced fundraising leader focused on creating change to address inequalities for children in communities nationwide. This role involves building partnerships with various funders, including corporations, foundations, and individual philanthropists. In collaboration with the interim VP, the Director will play a vital role in expanding the organization's funding base.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • As a member of the Development team, you'll secure resources to bridge the equity gap and reach annual revenue goals of $50M+.
  • Help shape and implement our strategy for building coalitions to rally local partners to address disparities in specific areas/markets.
  • Cultivate a portfolio of partners aligned with organizational priorities, including racial equity and child development outcomes in health, education, and resilience.
  • Actively seek partnerships with organizations and funders aligned with our mission in the public and private sectors.
  • Get involved in mentoring and peer mentoring within the Development team and throughout the organization.
  • Ability to travel approximately 20% within the United States.


Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree and 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Proven track record in large-scale philanthropic revenue generation, funder relationship management, and expanding multi-year gift portfolios.
  • Deep understanding of the current funding environment, exceptional ability to build strong cases for support aligning with organization and funder priorities and illuminating a common purpose across multiple stakeholders.
  • Significant experience developing and nurturing relationships with existing funders and strategic partners, including executive-level stakeholders.
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with aggressive deadlines; manages multiple priorities and projects while focusing on long-term goals..
  • Sharp mind, excellent critical thinking, and organizational skills. Quick to absorb information from various angles while maintaining superior attention to detail.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work style with self-motivation and the drive to get the job done.
