Director of Development for Athletics

Location: Hendrix College, Conway, Arkansas

As a core member of the Advancement team, the Director of Development for Athletics will build, drive, and manage a comprehensive athletic fundraising program, in consultation with the Director of Athletics and Advancement leadership. This position will focus on athletics fundraising and engagement strategies to secure philanthropic support from alumni, parents, former student-athletes, and others with an interest in Hendrix Athletics. The Director will be responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of all athletics donors at both annual and major gift levels.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Raise at least $250,000 in unrestricted support for Warriors Athletics annually to benefit Athletics operations and each of the 21 varsity sports, Esports, and Dance Team.
  • Build and manage a portfolio of 75-100 prospects to qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward by engaging constituents with a minimum of 10 meaningful engagements per month.
  • Work closely with the Director of Athletics, coaches, and Advancement leadership to develop and implement a strategy for broad-based communication, engagement, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
  • Assist with developing a robust corporate sponsorship program with the Director of Athletics, Director of Athletic Communication, and Advancement leadership.
  • Partner with coaches and athletic volunteers to plan and execute solicitations related to athlete reunions, alumni games, and events.
  • Collaborate with Athletics and Advancement colleagues to maximize and leverage the best gift opportunities from prospects and donors for Hendrix College.
  • Regularly attend Advancement and Development team meetings and Coaches’ meetings; serve as a liaison between the divisions by providing relevant updates.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in fundraising, preferably in higher education or athletics development.
  • Proven record of accomplishment of successfully securing major gifts and cultivating donor relationships.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to articulate the mission and goals of Hendrix College effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse constituencies and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of fundraising databases and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience as a collegiate athlete or coach.
  • Familiarity with Hendrix College or similar liberal arts institutions.
  • Familiarity with NCAA Division III Athletics.
