- Responsible for overseeing and preparing SEC filings timely and accurately while ensuring compliance with all US GAAP and SEC requirements
- Own and ensure accuracy of our global accounting policies, including preparation, evaluation of technical accounting analysis and implementation of regulatory changes and policy enhancements
- Serve as the technical accounting expert on company projects and initiatives
- Participate and deliver on special projects including system upgrades, enhancements and driving process improvements
- Play a key role in the month end financial close process by preparing, reviewing and analyzing accounting entries and account reconciliations especially in more complex accounting areas
- Research and analyze transactions to ensure accuracy and resolve differences
- Ability maintain an effective internal control structure by recognizing potential risk, enhancing internal controls, ensure compliance documentation and creating new and improved policies and procedures when necessary
- Develop future financial leaders through talent development, training and mentoring of individuals, as well as staffing and recruiting of necessary skill sets
- Establish effective relationships and proactively work cross-functionally across the global organization
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller and Global Controller with other responsibilities including leading and management of special projects, ERP enhancements, internal controls, and ad hoc analyses as requested
- BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field
- CPA with expertise in technical accounting policies, procedures and treatments in accordance with US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
- 10+ years of experience in progressively larger financial leadership roles, with a mix of private and public accounting experience preferred
- Experience with a SEC registered company, international experience a plus
- Industry experience in retail, consumer products and/or manufacturing
- Experience working in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple project simultaneously
- Experienced with systems integrations and development of automated processes
- Strong systems skills, comfortable analyzing and manipulating large data sets, as well as experience with ERP and reporting tools
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information to diverse audiences
- Creative thinker who can bring innovative ideas and approaches to solve issues
