Summary: Directs and coordinates activities of the floral departments such as engineering, operations, sales, and major division of business organization, and aids the Vice President of Perishable in formulating and administering organization policies by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.Other duties may be assigned.


  • Participates in formulating and administering company policies and developing long range goals and objectives.


  • Directs and coordinates activities of department or division for which responsibility is delegated to further attainment of goals and objectives.


  • Reviews analyses of activities, costs, operations, and forecast data to determine department or division progress toward stated goals and objectives.


  • Confers with the Produce and Floral V.P. and other administrative personnel to review achievements and discuss required changes in goals or objectives resulting from current status and conditions.


  • Serves as member of management committees on special projects.


Travel is required, supporting the business, department(s), and leadership as needed.

Qualifications:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Individuals must have the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and the ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or associates of the organization.


Math Ability:

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.


Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


Computer Skills:

Moderate computer skills required.


Certificates and Licenses:

No certifications needed.


Supervisory Responsibilities:

Manages subordinates and works directly with the product specialists. This position must carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
