Schneider Downs Wealth Management Advisers (SDWMA), an affiliate of Schneider Downs, is a Registered Investment Adviser (RIA) specializing in investment advisory services and personal financial planning for high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth clients, endowments and foundations, as well as investment advisory services to retirement plans, including investment menu design and oversight, investment analysis, financial planning and general education for retirement plan participants.

The Director, Investment Strategy is a leadership role that reports directly the Chief Investment Officer (CIO) and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Schneider Downs Wealth Management Advisors. In this role, you will work with the CIO and investment team members to oversee the entire investment platform. SDWMA allocates across traditional (equity and fixed income) and private markets (buyout, secondary, co-investment, venture, growth equity and real assets) and the Director, Investment Strategy will be responsible direct coverage of to be determined asset classes in addition to a role overseeing the overall investment platform. The Director, Investment Strategy, working alongside the CIO, will be responsible for innovative, long-range and comprehensive investment vision and strategy.

Schneider Downs has embraced the hybrid work model, so this role will have flexibility working from home, as well as in the office.

What You’ll Do


  • Ability to understand the firm’s current investment vision while enhancing the strategic vision by incorporating new ideas in a forward-thinking manner
  • Demonstrated quantitative and qualitative analytical skills
  • Ability to articulate complex investment matters in terms appropriate to various audiences
  • Knowledge of trading, reporting and investment monitoring software (e.g., FactSet, Morningstar Direct, Orion)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and belief in globally diversified portfolios
  • Evaluate the overall performance of external investment managers
  • Ability to cultivate, source and allocate to established general partners/investment managers as well as identify and source emerging managers/spinouts
  • Exhibit exemplary interpersonal skills and exercise sound judgment and professionalism in business matters
  • Proven ability to lead team of investment professionals


What You’ll Need

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting or related field with demonstrated proficiencies as outlined above
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in a role that had a voice and impact on investment decisions
  • Previous experience at an RIA, consulting firm, single family office or multi-family office
  • Knowledge of:
  • Global economics, capital markets, risk management and compliance
  • Multi-asset class knowledge across public and private markets, preference to candidates with current experience in alternative asset classes
  • Investment concepts, terminology, styles, models and strategies, including portfolio theory, asset allocation, performance measurement and a good understanding of capital markets\
  • Principles and practice of institutional management and modern portfolio theory and application
  • Applicable investment laws, rules, regulations, compliance considerations and professional standards


Preferred:


  • CFA highly desirable; CAIA also preferred
