Compensation: $90,000 - 100,000 Per year DOE

Position Summary: The Director of Learning & Development is primarily responsible for leading the design, development, and effectiveness of the L&D Department in the way of modern training programs, leadership development, mentorship, continued education, and evangelizing a culture of lifelong learning. They are responsible for curating content for talent development and ensuring employee training is up to date with policy, procedure, and state/federal guidelines. As part of our corporate leadership, they must model and champion Redstone’s Core Values and have a desire and ability to support and serve our team members. 


Responsibilities:


  • Plan and execute the organization’s L&D strategy for leaders and team members. 
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs to support changing strategic objectives.  
  • Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs, providing recommendations for improvement. 
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs, using knowledge of the effectiveness of methods such as utilization of AI, classroom training, demonstrations, on-the-job training, meetings, conferences, and workshops. 
  • Prepare and execute training budget for department or organization. 
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys/ needs assessment to identify training opportunities and needs to upskill/ reskill existing workforce.  
  • Anticipate and eliminate future skills gaps through incisive new L&D programming.  
  • Build relationships with third-party resources, vendors, and partners to roll out innovative and experiential learning models.  
  • Identify new tools to enhance human capital capabilities across the organization.  
  • Develop, create, and customize development plans such as training manuals, multimedia visual aids, and other educational materials. 
  • Attend meetings or seminars to obtain information for use in training programs or to inform management of training program status.  
  • Collaborate with instructors to conduct training; offer hands-on coaching and guidance to leaders as a recognized L&D subject matter expert (SME). 
  • Supervise, evaluate, or refer instructors to skill development classes. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with HR to implement effective deployment and redeployment strategies.  
  • Develop testing rubrics and evaluation procedures. 
  • Conduct orientation sessions and arrange on-the-job training for new hires. 
  • Train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees. 
  • Hire, supervise, and lead direct reports and to ensure the completion of all special projects and priorities assigned to the team. 
  • Provide guidance and direction to team members, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance. 
  • Conduct or arrange ongoing technical training and personal development classes for staff members. 
  • Review and evaluate training and apprenticeship programs for compliance with government standards. 
  • Contribute to regularly scheduled performance management process.  


Qualifications:


  • 5+ years of teaching, training, and/or coaching experience spearheading L&D initiatives.
  • 3+ years of management or leadership experience.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Proven success at the helm of L&D function.  
  • Familiarity with experiential learning, gamification, and emerging trends in L&D. 
  • Working knowledge of training/instructional tools, methodology, and L&D best practices. 
  • Knowledge of principles and methods for curriculum and training design, teaching and instruction for individuals and groups, and the measurement of training effects.
