Two Leaves and a Bud

Director of Marketing

We are Two Leaves a Bud, an independent tea company based in the mountains of Colorado known for simply great tea. As one of the originators of the whole leaf tea sachet, we have always innovated to make a great cup of tea accessible and eco-friendly. Now in our 20th year, we continue to innovate, leading the foodservice industry with our range of super-premium, super-tasty chai, matcha, and tea lattes.

As Director of Marketing, you will drive Two Leaves and a Bud’s overall marketing efforts from philosophy to on-the-ground execution. You’ll be the lead on building brand presence and equity, drive engagement, and be a partner to our sales team. Managing our internal marketing team and external partners, you’ll develop and execute impactful marketing initiatives. We’re looking for someone who will take company-wide goals and translate them into effective marketing objectives, creating and implementing processes and procedures to achieve them. This position reports to our CEO and collaborates with and oversees an in-house team of 2-4 and outsourced resources.

This role is a decision making role. We expect you to make informed decisions and take chances where appropriate. We encourage you to take risks and learn and grow from them, rather than waiting for all pieces to fall perfectly into place before acting. You will work with the CEO and other senior managers who will support you and ask you searching, appropriate questions.

We’re looking for someone who can operate at all levels of the marketing function:

  • Strategic: Developing our path forward and our focuses
  • Creative: Coming up with fresh and innovative ideas for our brand
  • Executional: Overseeing the team and resources to achieve measurable results; doing and delegating

Responsibilities for this role will include:

Marketing Strategy: Take company goals and translate them into specific marketing projects, goals, metrics, and strategy to reach our audiences.

  • Collaborate with our VP of Sales to develop and implement a robust strategy aligning verticals
  • Work with the Sales and Product Development teams to create new marketing initiatives, product and range extensions
  • Work across marketing channels to build wholesale and DTC brand presence

Brand Management: “Own” the brand and oversee how our brand presents itself.

  • Manage brand guidelines to curate our voice: keep it fun, beautiful, and effective, and ensure uniformity across all marketing, sales, and other public-facing channels
  • Content Management: create and manage a strategy for brand messaging, and create compelling materials that tell the story

Communications: Develop and drive communications distribution strategy.

  • Deliver content across platforms
  • Effectively address, build, and engage wholesale and DTC audiences

Business and Team: Own the operational parts of a leadership role and balance with the on-the-ground tasks of an entrepreneurial team.

  • People: Collaborate with and direct our in-house team for maximum efficiency
  • Outsource: creative and distribution partners for maximum return
  • Finance: work with our CEO to develop and manage a marketing budget; prioritize projects based on available and sensible resources
  • Goals: Develop measurable and actionable KSPs and drive the team toward them

You would be a fantastic fit for this role if you are someone who:

  • Can effectively envision, construct, and communicate a compelling story around the value proposition.
  • Owns their role, is excited about marketing, and brings passion to their work.
  • Can direct and manage a team of internal and external resources within our culture.
  • Has a background in the world of CPG (and preferably cafe/foodservice) and understands and can communicate market trends and what is going on in the beverage and foodservice industry and the coffee vertical’s needs.
  • Can project manage and work with Trello or an equivalent project management tool.
  • Has worked with a mid-sized CRM and can effectively analyze data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Is comfortable working in an environment with a balance of autonomy and direction, taking ownership and responsibility and reasonable risks.
  • Is comfortable working in a small company environment and wearing different hats.

Even if you’re not sure that you check all of the boxes above, we still want to hear from you. We are building a team of professionals who are enthusiastic about the idea of bringing a quality tea product to businesses across the US. So if that sounds like you, please drop us a note!
