SmithGroup is looking for a Director of Performance Analytics to join our team. This position may reside in any SmithGroup office.
Working with us, you will:
- Lead the performance analytics team in robust data collection processes to capture performance metrics during various project phases (design, construction, and operation) to feed into a larger integrated data platform.
- Coordinate with members of the Technology in Practice (TIP) team on data management and related firmwide automation initiatives, directly managing TIP team members embedded within IMPACT.
- Oversee continued projects and develop new opportunities to monitor real-time building performance using sensors, meters, and other monitoring tools.
- Supervise inward facing analysis to track historical data to identify patterns and deviations in performance.
- Coordinate with the Director of Sustainability Integration and TIP team the tracking of the AIA 2030, MEP 2040, SE 2050, and affiliated climate commitments.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) related to project whole-life carbon, energy efficiency, sustainability, occupant comfort, and health and wellness.
- Support the development of intuitive dashboards and reports to communicate performance metrics effectively to project teams, clients, and stakeholders.
- Work closely with project teams to integrate energy performance considerations seamlessly into architectural designs.
- Equip the performance analytics team to communicate findings and recommendations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Collaborate with sustainability consultants, energy modelers, and other experts.
- Provide national thought leadership on project climate performance tools and methods.
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, and project managers to evaluate energy performance of our projects.
- Utilize data from performance modeling tools to assess energy consumption, whole-life carbon, daylighting, thermal comfort, and other relevant factors.
- Oversee staffing/hiring needs and coach/mentor the performance analytics team on performance, career development, and progression.
- Remain at the forefront of industry trends, emerging technologies, software tools, and best practices related to energy performance.
- Propose innovative approaches to enhance building performance, reduce energy use intensity, reduce whole-life carbon footprints, and support our sustainability integration team in their pursuit of regenerative design.
- Evaluate emerging conceptual performance modeling tools to be used by our design teams and manage vendor relationships with One Click LCA and Cove Tool.
- A bachelor’s degree in relevant field, required.
- Minimum 15 years relevant experience in energy modeling, building performance analytics and/or whole-life carbon modeling.
- Professional license in field of discipline (if applicable) or certification within professional discipline, preferred.
- Relevant sustainability credentials, required.
- Experience in SmithGroup’s core markets or related industries and corporate-level sustainability.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the proven ability to influence others.
- Strong critical thinking skills and the ability to find solutions to challenges.
- Previous experience leading teams; a record of success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, external stakeholders, and vendors.
